I have a few I can spare in my livewell. Don't mind helping if someone has a trip planned and no bait, been there and it stinks.

They were alive this morning and I have an airater running to help keep them going, hoping they make it until Sunday. PM me if anyone needs a couple.

I have been wondering about using hot dogs. Larry Smith used them to catch pike through the ice, and I have caught pike on them as well. I'm talking the el cheapo Sugardale hot dogs. Has anyone tried this on muskies? I was going to try them this summer but never got a chance.

Do you use a quick strike rig on a hot dog?
What size hooks?
Maybe relish for scent?

The hot dog idea is funny. I remember when our muskie club was showing us how to rig up a QS rig. They used a summer sausage. Perhaps in a crunch? Add some cheese and you never know..

Catch some small pike and rig them up or any other type of game fish.

I’ve seen tigers caught on hot dogs.

I’d go with a rotisserie chicken.

Costco has good sized birds for $4.99. Cheaper than any sucker you'll find this time of year.

I can actually find them for $5, not tax, leave the money in the jar.

I tried a partridge on a quick set rig once with no luck. Still not ready to give up on that one.

Gray Squirrel on a board. Pull off when you get a follow. Reds chatter too much.

I rig a hot dog like I used to rig smelt. I take the treble hook off the leader and stick it through the hot dog in the middle, and then put the hook back on the leader.

Hot dogs are not big enough for fall fatties, you need the full sized summer sausage.

In Ontario you are not allowed to use game fish as bait. I am always interested in states where it is allowed.

I know some guys use pan fish. I also heard it was illegal to use any game fish as bait. Travis Richardson used to use ciscoes he caught rigged up like suckers. Worked great. I can't remember if he netted them or what.

In Wisconsin it is legal to use game fish for bait as long it is of legal size and counted toward your daily bag limit.

Back in the day I didn't run suckers up north. I would catch perch and hook them up to rigs. May take a little time to catch them, but they would probably work.
I also used bluegills, easier to catch, but I didn't get as many on them.
Someone said bullheads, and yah, I can see that. Never tried it, but could totally see that working.
