I have a couple 6500C3's that the push button sticks down on. When this happens I have to pry it up with my finger nail. That's when it gets tossed in the box for another. Does anyone know what part it is that fails to cause this problem? I would like to order a couple of these parts and replace them.

Thanks.

Yikes,

sounds like you may need to replace more than just the button (#20671)
I believe all the parts in that assembly are as follows......

22807
22808
20948
20664
20685

try Abu's web site. www.abu-garcia.com

They have schematics for thier reels.

Have a look at this page, it should give you some ideas as to what needs replacing. If the reel's very recent the small return spring has been replaced by a sealed plastic part, this will need replacing instead of the spring.

Luke

Probably doesn't need a part. When this happened to me (alot in the past), it simply needed oil on the lever that puts the reel in gear. Open the reel, lift the gears off the spindle and spray a small amount of lubricant on the side plate from which the spindle protrudes. Make sure the lever (sorry don't know the actual part name) slides easily along the plate. Should fix the problem. Might want to clean/grease the gears while you're in there.

If it is a newer model there is a white plastic piece that holds the spring. I would guess the problem is here. Try cleaning or oiling it as it can get gummed up and not slide. If not you can order just that part and it is under a buck I think. If this spring doesn't pop out then the button stays down. It can also cause the reel to not engage.
