I recently completed my cancer bucket list goal of catching every species of pike or subspecies along with the pike muskie hybrid. Due to the assistance of cicciospin (Francesco) Matthew, and David I captured my southern pike Esox cisalpinus and European northern Esox lucius. I was helped by Laurent Degrave Pro, Cedric and Romain Thevenet, and Estelle of the Parc nature regional des Landes de Gascogne I was able to catch an Aquitane pike Esox Aquitane. Without these fine people I never would have realized my goal. Thank you one and all.l

I would love to see pictures also. My greatest achievement in terms of rare esocidae is a few silver pike.

Yes my list included Amur pike, I caught several in 2017 in Russia. All of the species were interesting in one way or another but I really liked the Amur pike for its coloration and the fact that they really like muskie tailspin topwaters. The redfin pickerel was very small but very beautifully marked and the southern pike is very wildly marked and cool looking fish kind of like the wild look tiger muskies have. I'll try to figure out how to post some pictures though I'm not very computer literate. Cicciospin posted some photos of my southern pike and a couple of my nicer European pike (northerns). He definitely made a huge difference in my success.

A cool thing happened I caught a tiger muskie from the ones I stocked in the fall of 2015 right after my cancer diagnosis. At the time I didn't believe I'd live long enough to actually catch one but was pleasantly surprised when I caught one on a topwater bass fishing. Since I stocked all the fish that year, I'm sure it was one of my "kids"!

Thanks Doug, Hope your fishing has been going well this year. I've had to cut back because of my health but still getting a few trips in. Lack 19 to reach 700 Muskies Inc. releases, maybe I'll luck out and get enough this season. Not too bad for a cancer fighting primarily wade fisherman from Wyoming. Danny
