WTB matched pair of 8.5-9’ graphite muskie rods for trolling. Looking for a medium fast taper and soft tip reasonably close to Northwest burbs.

I like a faster recovery than most pure fiberglass rods can provide, we typically fish with 6 rods and the graphite allows us to get our baits/boards in and out more efficiently. I have fished with fiberglass rods in other peoples boats and sometimes it's like taking your life into your hands because the entire rod loads up and the lure comes flying out at you when it gets near the boat. This is not a problem when you can point the rod at the bait, but when you have to bend the rod near the boat at about the point where the lure breaks the water the fiberglass is simply to slow to recover, I could show you this in a couple minutes on the water but otherwise it's kind of hard to explain.

The absolute worse were Jody Mills "catfish rods" about 15 years ago.

I find it interesting that people can cast with graphite rods until ice up with no issues, but some of those same people maintain that glass rods are better for trolling because graphite is too brittle. I have definitely not found that to be the case...

this was just a shot in the dark before I buy a couple of new rods this year.
