Posts: 200 | Looking for a fishfinder for my boat. I am used to just having a traditional sonar with temp and depth. But would like something new, any suggestions?

Posts: 427 | For that budget you may find a HELIX 5 or small Hook unit. Not much out there new for that budget. You may find a used unit with GPS at least on E-Bay for that budget. If you can get up to the $500.00 level you will have a MUCH better chance of finding what you want Good Luck Edited by 7ovr50 12/15/2018 9:10 PM

Posts: 67 | I have a 7sv and really like it. I don't think they ever caught on since they don't take map chips but I always had a dedicated GPS so it works for me.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | This is a very good deal and matches your budget exactly, Chirp sonar and GPS. I have one, love it. https://fishfinders.factoryoutletstore.com/details/420501/humminbird...

Posts: 104 | The GPS Store is having a sale on this 7 inch Lowrance for $259.95. It also has down imaging and GPS plotting which allows you to mark spots but not have a detailed lake map. Very user friendly unit and can't really beat the price for a "larger" screen basic locator. https://www.thegpsstore.com/Lowrance-HOOK2-7x-SplitShot-Fishfinder-P... Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Tried one of the Splitshots. decent sonar, but the GPS and detail was not anywhere near what I needed.

Posts: 4 | Agreeing with MadMurph here. The HOOK2 by Lowrance is going to be your best bet. The 7-inch is usually $400 but there are deals right now. If you can't get there, the 5-inch is always under $300. Posts: 43 | Steve, could you address the gps concerns? Weighing the Helix 5 and the triple shot for use on a second boat where mapping is not a deal breaker. SI is a must. The 7" screen would be nicer than 5" as would saving a 100 bucks. Any thoughts, thanks?
