| Hello,
I'm looking for a new 9 ft. rod for casting lures like the Super Shad Rap, double #7 and #8's up to the Mid Medussas (4.6 oz). I fish for pike, so I don't care for too much flex in the figure 8.
Do you guys think the 9' Elite mh is the right choice for these baits?

| The mh might be a little light for the Medussas. If you lob cast it would probably be ok, but I sure wouldn't try to throw one very hard with that blank. |

| I never fished an elite series rod but I have 3 mh from the legend tournament series. Very similar action and power. I think the rod would perform very well. The Medussa would be on the heavy side but it can handle it, no problem.

| I use a Predator XH for all of those baits, except for Super Shad raps (which I only use for trolling), and it casts them very well. So I would suggest going heavier than MH on a St Croix blank, if you want to use 4+ oz baits as well. |

| Thanks for the replies, I already have a Big Nasty and a Big Dawg. For me, the Big Nasty is too heavy for the blades. I think, I'll buy a european pike rod for these baits. They want nearly 750$ here for a Legend Elite... |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I have a long ranger I use a lot for super shad raps. Not the elite you are asking about, but my new favorite rod. I have fished mid Medusa’s on it, but I feel it is a little light for that. My big nasty gets that duty. |
