Gregg Thomas is definitely a talented stick, casting or trolling and would likely be a good choice. His partner now is Tony Grant from Kentucky also. From my reading it sounds like Mike Lazarus would be a great choice. I don't know Saric well but when you get to fish the best waters at the best times, with some of the sports top sticks it is possible he could be somewhat overrated, plus Mr. Turgeon appears to be a close buddy from the Musky Hunter shows and writing for the magazine, so he may be more than slightly biased.
My bias is from fishing with Jim no more. If we had not filmed I would never have been in the boat with him. For sure filming is fun but a pressure cooker to produce...no muskies...no show.
Major League Fishing has it figured out, the anglers own and run the show and the profits stay with them...plus I like the format.
I'm not sure why this got all turned around. I just thought it would be fun to see who would pick what talent to fish with.
I think you had a great idea, fun to think about. From watching Major League Fishing, it is interesting to see how these guys that fish for a living have a go to when the pressure is on. Some like spinners tossed around and under docks, some favor crank baits in open water, others might excel at flipping heavy lures and punching through weed mats. I think it is Ish Monroe that falls back on frogs. If you learned how to fish from just one of them, you would probably tend to fish the same way. By seeing how they all do it a little differently, but with success, you get a more balanced view. Your suggestion makes people think about musky fishing in the same way. |

| I know Mr. Worral has gotten to be an (extremely) elderly fellow, probably busy with looking over crappie rods suitable for pier fishing, but if he’s watching the fascination his readers seem to have choosing their heroes, maybe he ought to consider giving away “dream trips” with these guys for a good cause. Perhaps funding joint replacements for his other old friends? Just let Turgeon’s thread run a while, crunch the numbers, brush the cobwebs off your wallet, and entertain the folks. C’mon Steve, you can likely find a sponsor to pay for it. |

| Which of the guys stated previously aren't a-holes and will allow cursing, smoking, chewing, and a beer or 2 in the boat without getting their panties in a wad?
Tony Grant is hilarious and has fishing and life stories. Scott Donovan from Kinkaid is also a good stick, and great guy. I'd play it safe and pick one of these guys. |
