I think tournaments are probably the only way to gauge the health of the fishery. I think we know nobody will brag about a hot bite on what they consider their secrete lake. I am interested to hear how things go if anybody cares to post something.

About 85 boats at last report. Sorry to disappoint a couple jackwagons but it's a respectable field.

Someone is going to find a couple big fish and win a very respectable amount of money during what should be contest that will test the field's overall talents. Weather looks good for the tourney, bite has been predictably tough.

If it is a Pizza eating contest Hooker would always be a favorite...even if it was held it in Chicago were the true pros live.

We'll try to get reports from them as we go, we are just back from the Marathon Man 24 hour World record attempt Fund Raiser for Military families in need in Southern IL, and could not cover the event live.

Sounds like a really interesting format. A guy would have to have some real confidence to plunk down that kind of entry fee but the payoff is substantial as well.

Sadly, those numbers are not surprising if you’ve spent any time on Vermilion this year. Close to perfect weather even. Congrats to the guys who were able to find a fish that would eat—that’s an accomplishment.

I’m rooting for Seamus Hanly to catch two fifties this morning, I gave him a great tip last night. Now that he’s not hampered by a half-crippled partner I think that quiet Irishman will shine. Naturally, I’ll take credit for the tip and include it in my next article. Sadly, the chances anybody will beat team Lijewsky with that head start is unlikely. He’s clearly Wisconsin’s best tournament angler, and seems primed to open up a can of whopas to the west. Just hope A-rod is healthy enough to do the same.
