I was curious what everyones favorite water depth is for trolling. I've caught muskies from skinny water all the way to 80ft+ (fish wasn't that deep), but generally my favorite trolling depth is 17-23fow. However, I don't have much experience/insight as to how this changes over the course of the season. For example, in mid-summer, I landed one trolling 14ft of water when I assumed they would be much deeper during the heat of summer, especially in a clear water lake. I realize it varies so much based on the exact lake, water clarity, and locating structure, but does anyone have any good rules of thumb for trolling depth over the course of the season?
Much appreciated!

never troll your lure under the fish or run the lures below the thermocline ,,,,, I usually run the lures 8' to 12' deep ,,,, the fish will come up 20' with two tail wags ---- jim

Trolling depth is entirely dependant on the body of water you are fishing.
