Subject: Copying AutoChart data to another Zerolines card

I've been running a Mega 10 at the helm and have been mapping out my local lake, storing everything onto a zerolines card. Now I'm ready to upgrade the bow unit to a helix 7 chrip with a new zerolines card and was wondering how easy it is to copy zerolines cards so I can have all that mapping data displayed on my bow unit.

When I called Humminbird's support line i was told I need to buy the autochart software package in order to do that but I have read other places that guys are just copying files and pasting to another zerolines cards. Is it easy to just copy and paste new data every so often to keep the bow unit up to date?

You can copy/paste the files from one zero lines card to another just drag and drop of us the copy/paste function on the autochart files.

Doing something similar to share maps between graphs. Purchased one zero lines + software package (needed the software bundle to use maps on my 597ci and 958c - non autochart units) and a standalone zero lines card.

I'm mapping out a lot of uncharted lakes in Ontario - portage lakes with a portable Helix on small boats and large lakes with a dash mounted Helix on my larger boat. I can simply remove the card and move it between Helix units OR put one zero lines card in my computer and copy/paste the autochart files onto the other zero lines card to share between Helix units.

In my experience I only needed the software bundle to use generate the map files for my 597ci and 958C to interpret AND it seems when I use the generate map function in the software it fills in any skips I have between map lines.

I purchased two zero lines cards to do exactly this, but it defeats the purpose of it being autochart "live". I never got around to actually moving the data to the other chip. It's so much easier just to move the card unit to unit, it's rare that you actually need the autochart map on the console. The Helix 7 can only take 1 card at a time anyways, so you'll be shuffling cards around regardless unless you're autocharting every spot. My recommendation would be to not buy an additional card and live with moving the card when needed.

Yes, you can copy data from one ACL card to another to share data with friends or have the same map at console and bow. We do this when on unmapped lakes in Ontario. With 3 boats running around all day for a week, the map builds pretty quickly.

If you map at your bow graph using the trolling motor, remember to adjust your transducer offset on that unit (settings) so that the bow depth of the deeper trolling motor transducer matches the console depth. Your data will match much nicer when matching up areas mapped using different units.
