Have fun w/ this one fellas,

What is the most annoying habit that 'yer fishin' partner has?

Mine absolutely, positively, has to come off the water between 9:00 - 9:30am and do his "daily duty (doody)" Talk about killin' prime fishin' time

My partner has no annoying habits...at least as long as we keep using his boat. Right Menace??

PS Steve Van Lieshout-you wouldn't have any annoying habits if I fished with you. Unless you miss that 50.

Good Luck, Be Safe

Buddy of mine wears a bathing cap w/ rubber flowers + a big lilly pad on top....LOL! Actually I talked him into buying some musky tackle last year + his first time out on a small lake we went to he tags 2 small fish that escaped. He cast out + I looked over + he has a BIG fish following...Figure 8 man I tell him!He pulls his bait out of the water + says what for? After telling him what happened I gave him a pr. of shades, told him to watch his bait ALL the way in. He refuses to figure 8 in an acceptable manner!!! He makes all kinds of movement + I tell him he's screwing up but he STILL won't listen!!! I can't understand... took him out for his first stripers, put him on some nice saltwater fishing + he hinged on every word.....where did I go wrong????

Good God where to start!!!! First of all he weighs about 350 and that is down from the 380 he was at, so in other words when he moves, the boat moves. He does'nt figure eight on a regular basis, and though he has not seriously spiked me yet there have been occasions when he has somehow flipped my hat off without sinking some trebs in me. He also has earned the nickname, Sneaky Pete, because he will quitely borrow my lures and catch fish on them.
He is fun to go with though, lands all my fish like a pro, and does put up with a lot of verbal abuse from me. I tease a lot. Oh one other annoying thing. He constantly snags shore. This year he actually put a lure twenty five feet up a tree!! Honest to God. Never saw anything like it before. I have a new song I sind to him now when he does that. If you remember Everyone walk the Dinosaur? Now just change the words Everyone get their lures on the shore, everyone cast like Dinah Shore.
All in all though I wouldnt partner with anyone else. The guy is top notch, and always buys the first round after a long day. Also spiked his first fifty this year, after six plus years of trying.

The worst my brother does is out of nowhere he will say "What?" like i just said soemthing. We will go a bit without talking and then all of a suddent he says "what". It seems to happen in Canada the most. Maybe he is hearing the Muskies laughing at him. It has become humorous. I have actually done it as well. Must be the water up there.[:p]

How about instead of taking 5 seconds to pull weeds off of your lure, your partner insists it is more productive slapping the lure on the surface repeadidly until all weeds are lose. In some instances it has taken him a minute or so. I don't even want to know how many fish he has scared off due to this.

I let my dad run my boat because he normally throws bucktails and I don't. He never casts forward the boat, usually straight out or behind. When I am working a crankbait I am often trolling it half way in. I complain about it but he thinks he will hook me if he casts ahead.

I fish with a number of different guys, some hardcore, some beginners, and some that just dont put much effort in. My biggest peave is when they throw a bait with hooks as dull as Ben Stein. I bother not to even ask anymore with some guys, the reply "It doesn't matter" always comes back. Of course they'll get one on, and always wonder why it gets away.

I also have one partner that I fish with in late summer and fall more, that can't fish one bait for more than 10mins. Always changing. I figure he could do this from the dock with about the same amount of entertainment. Later

Its very simiple: The person who is late. I absolutly hate sitting tied up to the dock when it looks awesome out on the water.

My wife constantly has sunflower seeds in her mouth when we fish, says it's good luck, But doesn`y have enough spit power to get the shells over the side of the boat. Looks like I`ve been fishing with a squirrel some days.
Another guy chews Kodiak and he can`t seem to hit the lake with his spit either. Guess I`ll to put a spitoon in the back of the boat. Beav

Jason,
If you hate it when your partner is late, why did you make me wait 1/2 hout the other day? LOL
At least now I have a 1/2 hour of credit for me to be late next time, right?

Jason hit the nail on the head. I hate wasting great fishing time, sitting at the dock, waiting for people who who don't own a watch, or don't know how to read one. I've been known to go out on my own for a while, and leave them to stand and wait... this is particularly "fun" when you can go out and get into fish that they miss out on.

Those that have the nerve to complain that they missed out on some good fishing usually get reminded that if they'd be on time, they could have been there too. They get no sympathy from me on this one!!!

definitely when the person at the front of the boat tries having a conversation and doesn't realize you can't hear one word because he's facing away from you talking into the wind- and i keep saying- huh?... what? - drives me nuts. best habit
is when female fishing partners fish topless[]

Rotten flatulence, the kind that “cling” to the boat despite a strong breeze, but if it is my own, well then it is something to enjoy and revel in.[]

I can't believe BORO hasn't jumped all over this one....but I will refrain from bagging on him in public, it is his boat.

I can sympatize with most here as we as guides get to fish with a lot of different folks over the season and most have some bad habit. The guy I fish with most is always late and I think I will tell him to meet me 15 minutes earlyer then I plan on been there from now on. Now like 55 said this guy is depth in one ear so half the time I have to repeat myself. [] I also pick up my clients up at the Motel so we get to the dock on the same time that way. Any time spent at the docks waiting is wasted time.

In fairness, many of the people I take out are not overly experienced but my frustration is with people who when a muskie follows to the boat either stop the bait dead in the water, point at the muskie and scream for all to look at the monster millimeters behind the bait, or those who pull the bait completely out of the water, point and scream at the muskie trying to figure where lunch just went!

Jody always asks whether to wear the white, or the black bathing suit, and is always praying for bright SUN for goodness sake....Then, after I lose a Muskie, she fails to properly express sympathy... But she definitely gets the attention I do not out on the water from other anglers!![:sun:]

Well MY PARTNER has this habit of procrastinating when it comes to getting out on the lake too early during SUNNY conditions. Makes it real hard to TAN while he is fishing. Understanding woman that I am, have no problem with him going fishing whenever he wants, you'd think a dedicated musky fisherman such as he would appreciate the sacrifices I make and take me out during SUNNY conditions occasionally! But alas, what is a woman in a bathingsuit supposed to do???? SYMPATHY, isn't that a word you can find between S**T and Syphilis in the dictionary???? []

That's easy-
#1. no sense of humor!!! Sponge Bob- hope we can share same boat someday, heeeheeeheeee![]

#2. Someone who thinks the guy running the troller is fishing all the best spots first so they cast from the back deck to the direction the bow is going in. [:knockout:] I try to use a move & stop method shown below- and while moving I fish directly ahead & he/she should fish to rear.
.............................................................

------His--*--Mine---*----His----*--Mine---*

...... @boat>..>...>...>..@boat>.....>....>

That way he /she have their own virgin water. If I'm running & gunning, i.e., locating spots we're going to using different lures & fishing same water- If he/she knows how to run troller I'll even switch places- the rear casting deck on my Skeeter is much larger than front.

If either of us has a hit& miss it's OK to throw to the spot after the H&M angler's followup cast to same fish. []

I outline the rules at the dock-that way there's no [:(] on the water- I'm there to have fun & I like using my Beckman!!!!

My partners most annoying habit is when he gets crabby about:

1. me not liking mayo (the worst condiment ever!)

2. me not wanting to fish for 24 hours straight without a break

3. me complaining about his leash around his neck. (choak collar)

4. the fact that the Boston Sea Party buffet went out of bussiness

5. my dumping window from 9:00 am to 10:00am

People who manage to cosistently hit the sides of the boat, and the motor with their baits, and worst yet, one time I turned around to see my partner with his feet on top of the motor, that was good for a bunch of scratches.

OH GOD, I absolutely hate that as well. I can't tell you how many more muskies would have been boated this year if they wouldn't do that.

I also hate it when I tell clients and/or friends to "Set the hook HARD, try to break the rod on the hookset", only to have a muskie hit and they don't set the hook. My youngest daughter sets hooks harder when crappie fishing than many of my clients. I had one guy miss 17 muskie strikes in 2 days because he wouldn't set hooks!!!

When I pick my partner up, he forgets to go the liqour store the night before, so we end up sober on the water uuuhhgggggg.[:knockout:]

First of all, I don't like when they can't pull the rod to get weeds off when trolling so he makes me turn the motor off so he can reel it in. Also moving around too much in my tiny boat when casting. And whenever hitting weeds when trolling or casting saying, "what the heck" making me think he has a fish on. And he uses all my lures.
