Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Myth. In extremely clear water, I have had fish move under the boat and then either come out from under after I thought they were gone, or they hit the bait from under the boat. I have seen this on numerous occasions with different colored hulls... Red, Silver, Black, blue, etc. What I find fish scare from is movement from above. Move too quickly in your figure 8, especially on clear water, the fish will bolt. Heck...sometimes I think these fish are so dumb I wonder how they survive. I once saw a fish that was literally 2 inches away from a slow/no wake buoy, facing it of all things, on a lake that has absolutely no current in it. The buoy was in a bay and put out by the lake association to help curtail shoreline erosion. Steve Edited by VMS 4/14/2018 8:12 PM

Posts: 427 | If bright colors scare them off I have to remove one half of my baits from my tackle box!!! Changing to all natural colors. Now watch my catch rate soar!!!

Posts: 383 | BadgerPat, I don't think flashy hulls scare fish, but I do think you should help folks make and offer an informed opinion; to do this, you ought to share a picture of the boat you're looking at. To help you out, I attached the pic you sent me... Edited by hooked 4/15/2018 10:13 AM Attachments ---------------- Pat's New Boat.JPG (7KB - 339 downloads)

Location: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin | Slight difference between the size of your baits and the size of your boat... But then again...I wasn't really asking about baits. Question asked, Question answered. Edited by Badgerpat1 4/15/2018 5:49 PM

Posts: 390 | Dont think color matters, but I have seen a difference in boatside strikes fishing out of bass boat vs a deep V in very shallow clear water in spring. The deep V seemed to cause them to put the brakes on, perhaps because im not sure there is enough room for them to slide underneath in the skinny water we occasionally fish.

Never did end up gettin um tho..
