Location: Land of the Musky | You will not be disappointed with either SC or ER for a high end rod for sure. Both good companies with goo warranties too. If you want the best of both, get ER to make you a rod on a SC blank. If you need something under $400, take a look at the Tackle Ind rods or even ask ER to custom make you a rod on a Tackle Ind blank.

Guys rank your top 5 rod companies. I'm looking for new rods but it seems like everyone suggests you buy a $400 rod. From my searches and what I have read St. Croix and Elk River are Very popular. |

I have a St. Criox Muskie Mojo that I got for well under $200 dollars that does everything I need it to.
Along with that, my favorite rod, a Fenwick Elite Tech Predator, can be had for right at $200 (unless you find a sale). That rod is the reason I will never buy a rod more expensive than $200. If that one ever happens to have something go wrong, I will just buy another Fenwick and not think twice.
x2 on that Mojo Musky by St Croix. The only thing is I bought a couple of 2 piece rods at 8'. Had use emery cloth to sand down the plug end before it would fit into the other part (they came in to tight). Rods worked great after that. Such an easy fix I wasn't about to send them back When I explained the situation to St. Croix they stated it wouldn't effect the warranty. |
