Location: Madison, WI | Looking to get a kicker for my 09 620. It will probably be just a tiller with a connector bar to the big motor. I don’t troll very often but would like to have the option and also an insurance policy if something were to happen to the big motor in Canada or something. Anybody running a 8hp kicker or should I just get a 9.9 and be done? Also I’m hearing conflicting stories on what shaft length I need. I’ve been told 20” and 25”? I’m thinking 20” will be fine but thought I’d check here. What are you guys running? |

25" shaft, you want the longest possible to give you the best thrust under your hull. Get the 9.9. |

| Ranger puts 20" kickers on their boats. No need for a 25. Go with the 9.9 pro kicker and put a 8 pitch 3 blade Solas prop on it for the best bite. I have had to many issues with the 4 blade collecting weeds and cavitating under full power. You will not lose speed or thrust.
