Location: North Central IL USA | DeForest, to be exact. Wasn't overly impressed. The Musky section sure left a lot to be desired, Guy said they were still stocking up the store. We'll see what it ends up like. Sure got a lotta fat tire bikes there and a big bike repair area right in the middle of the store....kinda weird. |

| In the Madison area, lot of bike riders. And bikes are something a lot of folks don't want to buy off the internet. Sell one mid range fat tire bike and you make more money than selling a lot of musky lures. Plus you sell accessories, repairs. I can see why they would stock that up first. They went belly up before, makes sense they will try a different way of doing business.

| Same/similar set up in Janesville.
Lots of bike related stuff.
Was there in early January and nothing for ice fishing, nothing at all. |

| I went to the one in Janesville a couple of weeks ago. The one thing I thought was nice was they had an Overton's section for marine products. That may come in handy.

Location: Tomahawk, WI | I stopped at the store in Wausau on Wednesday. I thought it was much better than the old store. The fishing department was larger, the boating area was huge(compared to the old store). It was not a giant clothing store anymore. Looked to me like they had a good mix of everything in the store. |

| I am not a fan that you have to be a Good Sam member to get a lot of the sales or the services provided at the service shop. Makes me wish that there was a Scheels closer than an hour and a half away seeing that they are always competitively priced and their service shop is great. Musky selection is the same at the La Crosse store but I received the same response that they were still stocking the store even though they have been open a month now. |

| Now that the Gander in Geneva Illinois closed there is no where to buy anything outdoor related. If someone would open an Academy or a Sportsmans Warehouse over here they would do very well. Gander would have done well to stick to Baits, Bullets, Boots and Boats. |

X2 they have a ton of baits, are always very helpful. I always seem to spend way too many paychecks there. |

They went bankrupt with that formula, so they are going to try a different model. |

| The bikes are part of the Erehwon business, They were a small outdoors chain in Madison and Chicago, Erehwon, is nowhere backwards. Overton gets them their marine stuff, and Camping World, (hence the Good Sam club), is the other business that they own along with Gander.
Now they've simply combined them under one roof.

Location: Duluth, MN | No reason for them to sell musky lures. We all purchase online now and once a year at the shows. Just not enough profit in it. Makes sense to go in a different direction. |

I've read the margins on store brand clothing is the highest of any products in the store, probably why they went that way since theoretically it'd make the most money. Unfortunately people won't go there for the clothes if everything else is overpriced or service is bad or any other number of reasons. |

I remember when the GM opened in Jackson TN, (where bass, crappie, and catfish are king, and a tick over hundred miles from the closest musky fishing) with their full line of musky lures and tackle..
Got some pretty good deals when they cleared the stuff out. |
