| I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but I could only search back one year and there was nothing during that time.
How many of you are running a bass boat rather than a deep V? I am seriously contemplating making the change to a glass bass boat from an aluminum deep V. Big water to me is 1,000 acres in Vilas or Oneida Co. and I don't troll. One drawback to the bass boat that I can see right away would be the big net while chasing muskies. Other than that, I can't see many negatives for the type of fishing that I do. I'm well aware of the Pro V Bass and the Bass Hawk, but was more interested in glass. The models that I'm looking at are the smaller ones with a 115 or 150 max HP rating.
Last week I made a road trip to look at a new Ranger, Triton and Bass Cat and I could see myself fishing from one. The Triton dealer also carried Crestliner, who makes a line called the PT, which was also quite impressive with the deck sizes. It is much larger than any of the mod v style bass boats that I have seen in the past.
I'm especially interested in hearing from those that have owned both a deep V and bass boat. Pros and cons?

| The main thing with a Bass boat is you are almost always casting from them. Big decks, big storage. For you there is very little reason not to consider a Bass boat. However, Bass Cat and the others mostly have big motors unless you are looking at 17' boats. Do you really wanna spend the big bucks for a big motor on smaller lakes? |

| I've been guiding for 24 seasons out of a bass boat and I think they are ideal for everything except trolling obviously. Lots of room and quite stable. |

Location: oswego, il | Since you fish lakes 1000 acres and less for the most part i would look at an esox magnum. A great casting platform and you can troll with it too. Small lakes, you don't need all that motor and speed getting around. |

| I run a 521c ranger and can't say anything bad about it. Big water, no problem. Point A to Point B in no time. Casting is a dream. Trolling I don't do it. I fish big water. I would say smaller lakes 1k-3k you could get by with a esox mag. I've had two and loved it for that type of water. But when you're running the north and south end of lac Seul, a 250 evinrude g2 is the ticket. |

Location: Ashland WI | I don't think the esox mag can be beat for smaller water. I fish out of a buddies mag a bit and really like it. I also own an esox ltd (a bit narrower than the mag). I like that as well, but the mag is nicer.

| I have a Ranger R80 and a Ranger 692 vs. I just got the 692 last year. For me, if I’m going to cast all day I prefer to fish out of the bass boat. It’s lower to the water, which makes deep figure 8s easy and controlling the boat in wind is way easier for me as it catches way less wind than my 692. I’ve ran a bass boat for about 10 years now and wouldn’t hesitate to fish my bass boat in any water that most guys run deep v hulls in. That being said, the 692 definitely rides a little smoother in big waves and is definitely a better boat to troll from. As far as storage goes, if you have a monster Lakewood box or something similar it likely won’t fit in the storage areas of a bass boat. There is a ton of room for baits in the storage areas, but you may need to store them in non conventional ways. If you have a family or kids that are going to fish with you, the bass boat is great if you are only taking one or two at a time, any more people than that kinda sucks. If they are little kids, I’d steer away from the bass boat...

| I fish out of Ranger R93 and love muskie fishing from it...Mainly cast 98% of time but did set up trolling rig for when I do troll an hour eating lunch best of both world....I have 2 Milk crates with down spout and they both fit in my center storage on front deck....plus will hold 6 more of the bigger plano clear boxes works great...was considering 620-621 but not sure after reading few threads like this....especially when I hardly troll at all and don't get on big water much at all.....maybe twice a season if that |

| In my 20'1" nitro z8 my big net sits in the cockpit just fine, my buddys 18'8" skeeter it fit as well but that boat fished much smaller than my 20'. I used to fish a deep v, i dont miss it very much. As far as storage of baits i have two milk crates with rain gutter in the bow center as well as 2 totes that have another 35 slots as well in the back deck.

| you can see in pic big plano on its side next to crate..they will lay flat and you can stack 2-3 high..that how you get 4-6 on side of crates and can fit 2-3 up behind the two crates as well and that's the big Plano clear boxes that hold 6-8 mag dawgs or so...there 2 more big planos under the filed and stream bag...I need to re organize baits everywhere from show season....Live in PA so been out couple times in last month but have to get organized asap |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Glitter boats are great for casting when stopped,but there's nothing fun about 60mph in a November rain. I'll keep my double windshield deep v stand up top and propane heater. Besides my back has too many miles on it for more than an hour or 2 casting I've become a troller. |
