Posts: 265 Location: Manitowish Waters WI | I own both but I have the LexaHD 400 in 6:3:1 and your listed Beast. I throw the Lexa 90% of the time because of the in between gear ratio. It has enough power to slow roll and burn if you need to. The beast in 4:9 is easier to crank at a average retrieve but its a workout if you want to move quickly over the top of weeds.

If you got a Black Beast in 4.9 And want a little faster, install the White Beast S 5.4 gears into !!!!

Posts: 983 | I have both these reels have the 400 lexa in powr and HS...same with beast 4.9 and 6.2...I also have two toro S...I honestly never use the lexa or beast 4.9 cause I like using the Toro S due to 2 more IPT than the 4.9 beast and still no fatigue throwing double tens with it...4.9 pulls them like butter just work to move them with any speed...save $100 Get tORO S

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I have a Beast HS and an S. For anybody that thinks the S is effortless, try the HS beast with the unbalanced jigging handle on the middle hole. I think it's less effort than the S and it's faster to boot.

I have the unbalanced power handle on my S 60 and Beast 60 HS both, and the S is easier. Try an unbalanced power handle on your S, it makes a decent reel for big blades into a good reel for big blades.

I agree with jake....I had big power handle on 60hs and counter balance on Toro S and the Toro S Is Much easier to tote double 10s not even a close comparision....Could do all day on toro S with no fatigue after 2 hours on HS I'm sick of doing it,,,,Now Lexa400PWR-p will tote all day too effortless IMO...Beast 4.9 does job with no work but just to hard to get any speed

Even easier then the balanced handle.. you will love it.

Posts: 1000 | Have both, as well as the lexa 6.4:1. Used the Toro S extensively, and had a tranx 500pg for years. They all do the job just fine. 4.9 beast if you find yourself retrieving too fast or resistance is a huge concern Lexa 6.4:1 if you like more resistance. I personally think they're awful from a reliability and parts standpoint, but let's not have that argument Tranx 400A shocked me in its versatility on the hard-pulling end. It's very light, and very smooth. It's not as powerful as a 4.9 beast, but it's powerful enough for my beast to sit in the rod locker all the time.

Great mid speed and easy to use combo. If you're buying just 1 reel and don't want to pay for extra handles, the HS Beast with the jigging handle ia still a reel that can be comfortably fished all day, especially if you aren't trying to go at top speed all day. Tucker Sure, no doubt about it. My typical "One-Two Punch" would be my S on a 9' XH for blades and my Beast HS on a 9' XXH with a Red October Tube tied on.. i actually robbed the long power handle from my little Beast 50 for my S, i run the Beast 50 HS on a 8'6 Slingblade or a 8' Top n Tail for little rivers. I am so ready for May.......
