I have the 2017 Terrova. With the redesigned lift assist, you can no longer run your own transducer on the terrova prop right? I have not been able to find any modifications online. Any suggestions?

If not, does the Universal Sonar work better with a Hummingbird Helix or HDS Gen 3s?

I currently have a Gen 1 HDS 7 for the Universal sonar and it's not clear at all, so I will be upgrading if there's not a modification suggested above.

Thanks!

Can you take the lift assist stuff out so you have that channel back? That's what I would do, my terrova have been hooked to birds and Lowrances, never had an image issue, but I can tell you the temp sensor is wrong out of the box with terrova to Lowrance

No, I wouldn't mess with the lift assist. Plus, the channel is too shallow now for a Lowrance transducer cord now. Not sure about a Bird cord. I'm sure my clarity is just the HDS1. I'll try my Gen 3 one up front before buying anything.

I have Gen 2 non touch units and a terrova. Mine reads the same as the lowrance transducer with the universal sonar and the temp is within 0.2 degrees of the rear when I fish in the local rivers for bass. The temperature of the entire water column is the same due to the discharge rates. I run the surface clarity on low, suppression off, and shallow water fishing mode of that helps.

What do you mean by your current depthfinder isn't clear? Do you have interference issues, or just not as much detail as you would like?

These guys have a solution, made with what looks like a coiled air hose, to keep transducer cables protected and out of the way. https://precisionsonar.com/products/
