Location: Athens, Ohio | Mauser and I fished Cass on 8/22, couple of pike no muskies that we could find. First time I've been there since last Fall's outing so please don't let this scare you off. The folks at Break on the Lake were wonderful to rent us a boat on short notice. m

Posts: 99 | Hi Good Fisherman! We were up on Cass over the Labor Day weekend. Wow - I don't think I have ever seen so many boats on Cass, very exciting! Lots of muskie fisherman too! I seen a couple of PMTT boats also, I guess some people pre-tourney fishing for the coming events. Fishing was tough! We managed a 46", 45" and 43" in our three day event. Had a few other follows with one being from a cautious 50" class fish. We fished about 15 hours each day working all types of structure. Reeds, breaklines, weeds, sand & rock, and open water. Fish seemed to be scattered througout the lake and were relating to all types of structures. Fish were utilizing different patterns throughout the day. No one pattern seemed to proceed. Large baits gained the most interest. Long hard hours was our biggest advantage. Lived on peanutbutter sandwiches and ibuprofen for 3-days. Our largest fish came at last light as I weaved in and out of walleye fishing boats to get a topwater over a sweet spot known for big fish. First cast and a couple of cranks on the reel handle and she hit! Awesome stike with a fierce battle. The others came on slow suddle techniques me and my partner developed years back. Seems like late summer muskies can get very aggressive but 98% of the time they are lazy sleepers? Difficult to read also. Water temps were about 70 degrees. Water is green-stained. Conditions were windy with sunny and overcast days, favoring the sunny days. This is the best conclusion we could come up with, but remember Cass can turn on a dime and patterns that work today, generally won't work tommorrow. Posts: 100 Location: Blaine, MN 55449 | I just finished the International Tourney. My partner and I fished only Cass. It was extremely hot, but we did see fish. We were bringing up fish in Alan's bay on deep weed edges on the north part of the bay by the reeds. We were seeing most of the fish with perch colored jerk baits and bucktails (brown and bronze colors work well with a tint of orange). Other than that lots of 3-5 lbs northern. Early morning and the first boat in the area help. In the late fall, crankbaits and late evenings work well in Alan's bay. Also in front of Buck Lake and into the beginning of Buck lake. Those are just some of the areas, green weeds in Sept. is also a good area to find the big ones, 8-15 feet of water and near a sharp drop off, which this lake has plenty. Ben

Posts: 291 Location: Mokena, IL | Fished Cass hard for 5 days. Raised many fish on hair, topwater and gliders. But in the end I was still not able to land a fish while there. The fist 3 days had us at the end of the MI tournament with temperatures approaching 90 each day. Water temps were 68 when we arrived Saturday afternoon and up to 75 by Teusday. Then the cold front blew in with 2 days of 30+ mile/hr winds. This left most of the lake unfishable due to 3-4 ft waves. We did raise many fish, especialy Thursday evening, we rasied about 10 fish and my brother caught 2. One on a spinner and the other on a pacemaker just after sundown. Already looking forward to next years trip.
