| North Twin in Vilas County of Wisconsin is it. It has the size and variety of structure that I can stay a week or more and not get bored. The muskies have great markings, the water and the shorelines look and smell great. There is a great population of finned critters to pursue. There are loons, bald eagles and ospreys. The area has many places in the vicinity with decades of tradition and character. It just can provide that "upnorth experience" that you only understand after you have been there! |

| Sorry man, but my three favorites are Lake X,Y, and Z. I like them because they are "sleepers" and have taken me many years of exploration and experimentation to discover them. Not about to spill the beans on this forum and put a bullseye on them.
Now, for well-known Wisconsin bodies of water there are plenty I like. For action, you can''t beat Palmer and Tenderfoot. For true trophies, the Lac Du Flambeau chain is tough to beat. Plenty of others around just like them... but those are two that I personally like.

| I like Teal lake in hayward. You almost always get action even though there are not many huge fish. The lake is beautiful with several islands and alot of wildlife. It is also a quiet lake so you don't have to put up with any pleasureboating. That to me is key. Too bad there aren't alot more quiet lakes.
Another is silver lake. It's fun to fish especially in the fall. |

| For me,it''s hard to beat beautiful
Lake Vermilion..The muskie fishing
is getting better every year, good
numbers and big fish are available
all season long.
The fishing, is only half of the experence....Beautiful shorelines,
bald eagals, black bear and moose.
You can fish all day and never see
another boat, so much structure to fish, it would take a lifetime to
cover it all.

| My favorite is my own backyard,Lake Erie & the Niagara River,we put back some of the Biggest Muskies caught in North America each year.But for a get away I would have to say Georgian Bay,Moon River Basin,so many back bays & eddies and Islands to get lost in & around and there is a possobility of catching the World Record Musky on the next cast! |

| If I was to pick one lake to fish the rest of my life, based on lakes I have fished, I would have to say Lake of the Woods. From my experiences LOTW has alot to offer, discover, and world record potential. |

2nd choice -- Cedar Lake(Ontario)
3rd choice -- Lake of the Woods(Ontario)

| In the States, Pelican in Wisconsin. big fish, good numbers, light pressure, and great landings. Average for me this year is 43".[::)] |

| In Canada the Winnipeg river system for sure.
In Wisconsin it would have to be Pewaukee or any other of the area lakes. |

| I didn't think I had a reply for this post as I only fish one river, I fish 6 different areas that can be like fishing 6 different lakes but still just different sections of the same river. But after thinking about it for a minute I do have a favorite lake that I fish for a weekend every year and thats Pigeon lake. We always have good numbers of fish and the view is best to none. Last September we fished it 4 days and me and my partner got 20 fish with a 45 and 48 incher in there. That is hard to beat for action and I also like the way the fish fight down there, my 45 incher was taking so much line I had to back the boat up to land it. May not be any chances at a 40 pounder there but you sure are going to get numbers of decent fish.[:sun:] |

| Wisconsin River is my first choice as it is the body of water I fish on a daily basis and usually catch each years biggest from, Butternut Lake, Chippewa and Flambeau river systems, Elk Chain, Manitowish Chain, Winnipeg river system, and a few unmentionables. |

It's neat to hear not only the "where's" but the "why's" as you like to fish for our beloved musky.
As for my input, Butternut Lake for average size, quality and asthetics, and the Flambeau River North Fork for numbers.

| Pelican was tough today!! Beav and I spent 6 hours out there, and saw 5 fish, missed one small one. BUT!! It was 60 degrees, and absolutely the finest November First one could ask for.
So Pelican is still my favorite lake! |

| I'm with Steve Van "North Twin" is tops in my book decent numbers and I have seen (Hooked) some real supertankers not to forget that we have also taken some BIG walleye's while fishing for real fish

| Got to be Lake Stephens here in W.Va. Good fishing for bass , catfish, bluegills and crappie. Has tiger musky but no one fishes for them. Lake record is a 50 3/4" giant caught a few years back. No pressure on the lake after Labor Day. Fished it all day Oct. 30 and never saw another boat,raised 3 fish that day but like always ,no hits. Not uncommon to see deer, turkeys, fox, squirrels, mink, hawks and others in the fall,and with no pressure from other fisherman, it's home sweet home.Other lakes may have more and bigger fish but the head of this lake is like another world, no people, just you and the world around you. Someday this lake will spit out another monster and with a little luck , it will be me that brings her in for a quick photo and a lot of memories.

My least favorite body of water back then was the pond on the right side of the 205 yard fifth hole on Morningstar Golf Club in Vernon, WI. The bottom is covered with my Titleists. Slightly pulled five iron after slightly pulled five iron, right in the drink. Double bogey.

Location: WI | Green Bay. Mainly because I probably have more hours out there than by far than any other body of water. Used to be able to go the entire season without ever seeing another muskie fisherman.
Green Bay also has lots of every type of water you would want to fish, dark water where you cant see your lure 6" under, to water where you can see bottom in 25' of water.
you name it Green Bay has it, its like having 100's of different lakes at your disposal. I have thousands of hours logged out there in the last 20+ years and havent scratched the surface. I love to explore, and I will never in my lifetime be able to explore everything out there.
And then the fish, well I guess its not much of a secret anymore, but it also offers such a mixed bag, you never know whats going to be on the end of the line.
Definatly not a numbers water, but with a forage base that rivals any other body of water in the world the fish you do get into are never under fed.
If I had to pick one body to fish for the rest of my life, this would be the one. Lots of good memories out there. |
