Location: Green Bay | Hi to all the musky fly fishermen. What rod are you using for fly fishing skis? What brands should I look at? Have an 8wt salt rod but looking to throw larger flies. Thanks for the info in advance for the info. |

| Lake or river fishing? Just my opinion, but most rods will do the job. Try and cast several 10 weights and choose according to your criteria. The reel needs to hold line, most of your catching will not even make it to the reel. Keep everything simple. Check out some forums. Learn the Belgian cast. Get a handle on this before you go to 14" flies and a 12 weight. There are many people on this forum, who will give you quality information. I have several friends, who fish the rivers with an 8 weight. Google Robert Hawkins and see the 57" fish he landed. Most of the fish you start out with will be in the 30-40" range. Good luck and keep posting.

Location: midwest | I would definitely suggest a 10wt or better. I have heard good things about the newly redesigned redington preadators, so they would be worth a look. I own a Scott tidal muskie/pike special and it's a great rod rated for 400-450 grain lines. It does really well with a titan intermediate 11 wt line too. |
