| Can anybody provide a product review on the Minn Kota Quick Release bracket? I'm especially interested in whether these brackets create unwanted noise from being loose. I like the idea of being able to remove my motor quickly (for repairs mostly), but don't like the idea of unwanted noises from the bracket when the motor is turned on and off, or when running down the lake. Are the quick release brackets pretty snug and quiet in this respect? Thanks for the help. BrianF. Twin Cities | |||

Posts: 32935 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | This bracket IS the way to mount a Minn Kota Powerdrive or Autopilot, and is really very easy to install. There is absolutely no vibration at all, no noise, no problems. I have six bolts through the deck securing the bracket, it is very solid. | Ditto. The bracket is silent and solid. It also makes mounting easier. I have a small paddlock thru mine, otherwise, the motor is a thumbscrew away from a different owner.

I take my motor off the boat to trailer it and also had my custom cover made to fit the boat without the trolling motor mounted on the bow. Makes for a much cleaner installation and maintainence is a snap if you have problems at all. Quiet too.

| Hey non-observent one, next time your in my boat take a look..........I've got one. I guess that answers the questions about unwanted noise or bulk!!!!! I do run a bolt thru the "padlock" hole just to tighten things up a bit. also a great system if you want to run a different/longer mtr on big water ...easy to swap or quick mount a spare. Bob T | |||

| I've got holes now from an old Motorguide and holes now for my newer Minn Kota Auto Pilot. Do I have to drill new holes for the quick release bracket? Or, do the quick release bracket holes correspond with the Minn Kota trolling motor bracket? If not, I'm in... Thanks for the responses guys. BrianF. Twin Cities | |||

Posts: 11 Location: Rhinelander | I have one with a maxxum 65 mounted on it, works great, no noise. I had the other quick release mount, and it made alot of noise. Also put a padlock in lock it in.

Posts: 1023 Location: Lafayette, IN | Zach, Mine was around $35 in BPS. It "does not" allow you to slide the motor away from the gunwale like the more expensive versions but functionally they are the same thing. 1) put the motor in "stow" position 2) unplug the wiring 3) remove the retaining screw in the quick release bracket 4) slide the motor assembly off the bracket I only wanted mine for quick removal at boat tarping and for maintainence. Works great!

Posts: 103 Location: Illinoise | Don't know if I can add anything new to what's already been said, but, the quick release bracket is the way to go for the Minnkota. The motor detaches really quickly and is easy to do in a hurry. It also has spot for a lock. I've never had any vibration issues with mine.
