Posts: 29 Location: Romeo Michigan | Guys If you are getting one or have one with a Yamaha 300 and kicker, the steer bar/cable tie is shipping from the factory with the engines misaligned. There is no fix or recall and I had to have a metal bracket created to make them align better. Of course I was the only boat that has ever seen this via Ranger though my authorized Ranger Mechanic had been on the phone with Ranger engineers for weeks trying to figure out a fix. Cheers Jake

Posts: 576 Location: deephaven mn | I am curious, is the bar an after market product, or is ranger fabricating themselves? I assume it must be with all the different combos possible

Posts: 29 Location: Romeo Michigan | It's aftermarket and they(Ranger) claim to be working on a fix but for now(my local fix) you would not even notice it was an issue. I've owned and modified my share of boats and these things are almost expected now a days as every industry I know of has quality control worth a $#'c! Cheers Jake

Isnt the steer bar adjustable lengthwise and doesnt it pivot on the connections? It is on mine and I imagine the range of adjustment is unlimited. Be nice to see a picture of what your talking about.

Posts: 29 Location: Romeo Michigan | Yes and on my Yamahas it's tapped both ways yo it's shortest possible length. The bar needs a to be shortened such that the motors align properly. The connection point on the kicker has a small angled bracket where the bar connects with 2x small adjustment holes. Basically until they manufacture a smaller bar there needed to be an extra hole or 2 on the original Yamaha bracket, thus was fabricated. It's in shop or I'd attach a pic. Just know it's an issue if you buy Yamaha on your new 621FS, and make sure it's dealt with at the factory. I am certain most folks haven't even noticed it as many of my buddy's thought I was crazy when I said they were slightly misaligned. I too thought i could easily adjust but both adjustments were already set to their smallest configuration. Cheers Jake

Cheers Jake Hey Jake, do you think you could maybe post a picture that shows the problem area you've outline? I'm having trouble picturing it. I think the shift lever angle bracket on the T9.9 is way too long on Jerry's boat, but that's a function of the length of the cable end. But I don't see why Ranger wouldn't just ship the boat with a flexible steering tie. Maybe I'm not picturing it correctly though, so I'd love to see a picture of what you're talking about. My Angler 2080 has a flexible tie between the F225 and T9.9. But it's a 2015 though...
