As I've been engaging in winter workshop activities, I've noticed that I have very few hair bucktails left other than a few Mepps and a couple of old Buchertails. What are the best hair bucktails available these days? When I use the word "best," I mean quality components. If there are any basement bait makers out there that you know of that make superior hair bucktails, please share their names and emails. Thanks.

Ghosttails; Fred is the last and the best of the great old bucktail hair tyers. No tackle box is complete with out one. Eagle tails shouldn't be over looked... Rabid squirrels are great and pretty different. And for pure value Windels.

Inhaler makes some good quality hair bucktails that have put plenty of fish in my boat. Ghostails have some nice color patterns but my best producer has been all black. Keep it simple, the fish don't care.

Hi-Fin were the best hair bucktail made but they are no longer in business. Skimmer Tackle took over Hi-Fins hard baits.

Dreamcatchers get my first vote (too many fish on them to not get the #1)... Ghosttails are very nice as well a very close 2nd.

I still like harassers and Vibrax's myself. Dreamcatchers are a bit better quality as far as components and are a reasonable price as well. It is a little annoying that the hooks on harassers tend to rust more quickly than other brands.

I love Eagle tails and have for many years. Why is there no double bladed version? I'd probably have about 26 of them by now.

Love those Dreamcatchers
I had to buy several of the same color because of the wear and tear that I put on them. Fish love em too.

One that flies under the radar but a very nice tail is the Muskie Attacker made by Tony Krizek. Also worth looking at are the RJ Tiger Tails for a good deep runner.

I have a few hi-fins that I like, ghost tails are great too. I also picked up some of those tiger tails, haven't fished them yet, but they are heavy and I can't wait to get them in the water.
