Location: hugo | Anyone do much on yellow lake anymore? As my fishing tapered off it was going from a muskie lake to a lake with muskies. How about Mckenzie? |

Fished Yellow a morn and eve last week while on vacation. Did not see a fish. Didn't even get a pike. I last fished there on the opener with 1 fish caught (42"). Haven't been to McKenzie this year.

| Saw this post and thought I'd check it out.
I haven't fished Yellow, but McKenzie has been dead for a while now. I have fished it for almost 10 years, and I rarely bother anymore ... which is tough to admit since I have a cabin there.
I talked to DNR and learned that the population peaked about 20 years ago and didn't really stop dropping until the past few years. Basically, it's a "lake with muskies" as was mentioned. Burnett/Washburn Counties don't seem to care much about muskie management??? |

| I have been fishing yellow 10 or 11 times this year and have done great.5 fish over 40 and the biggest 48 caught by a friend.Last year was out 3 or 4 times a week and almost always saw fish. |

| It seems that most of the fish we get on yellow are really heavy.I went out last wednesday night and saw two fish one was a nice fish,but the lake was too full of people rubber necking and it was real hard to fish.Good luck and maybe I will see you out there. |

Location: Waukesha, WI | Lineman, ditos on the "real heavy" Northerns too. What do you think will happen to Yellow Lake muskys with its Rusty Crayfish infestation? The Rustys have dwindled the cabbage pretty good. |

Location: hugo | Was out on yellow wedn. nite, saw one fish and a snake. Felt that wasn't bad considering the weather. The cabbage is not the same as 5 years ago. |

Location: St. Paul, MN | I saw your comment on Burnett/Washburn musky management. I recently purchased a cabin on a small lake west of Minong and have been checking out a few area lakes. Have had luck up in Douglas county - but this is more drive than I'd prefer.
Any comments on Lake 26 (I have seen some fish, but no action), Mathews Lake or Nancy Lake. Are they worth spending any time on?

Location: hugo | Have not fished 26 recently but used to quite a bit. I never seen a lake that used to have fish as heavy as 26 did, 20 years ago. they seem to got lighter. Take a look at the picture of the fish a fellow shot off his dock years ago during deer season if still hangs in the fishbowl bar. |

| the musky at the fishbowl wasn't shot, it was speared,and it wasn't from lake 26 it was from shell lake, and its not hanging there any more. |
