Thinking of upgrading this season, for those that run it how have you liked it? Pros and Cons of the motor? Do you have the lowrance hook up? How is installation?

Love mine. I upgraded from a non gps one its all new tech to me.
I have the 80lb on my 1650 Fishhawk.
The remote doesnt tell me how fast the motor is going to remember how many times you click the +.
If theres wind and current with the gps on itll drain the batteries pretty quickly in my case.
Easy to deploy, beeps are loud enough and strong enough for my fishing.
I plan to buy a Lowrance for it soon so nothing is hooked up at the moment.
Installation was easy, should have bought the quick release plate tho.

just upgraded to one as well. Used it all season and I like it. The foot pedal is a little different to get used to compared to a terrova foot pedal and not quite as easy to work. But IMO the wireless Xi5 foot pedal makes up for it. Install was easy

I'll be upgrading from the powerdrive V2, so I'm sure I'll think it's pretty great

I put one on my X-190 this year and I like it but don't love it. The spot-lock is great as is the ability to adjust it with the remote. The pedal is easy to use and I have never really understood the mild criticism of it. While the motor is electric, it turns very fast. I have had some issues with the remote and using the direct course setting but it doesn't apply too often to my fishing so I haven't spent a lot of time using it. One big negative I have found is that when you turn spot-lock off, the motor shows it being on constant but it isn't. I always have to turn it off and then back on. Not a big deal but when it's windy and you're bouncing up and down and you don't know if the motor is on, it is an inconvenience. Also, the foot pedal buttons are very easy to turn on by accident. And when you hit the spot-lock button by accident it will instantly turn the boat to get in that position. I wonder if a double click for the spot lock button would be better than the single click.

Overall, I would give the motor a score of 7.5-8 out of 10. If I was buying now, I would closely look at the Ultrex.

I have one on my 619, it's great. It does everything I ask it to. No trouble chasing muskies, following weedlines, breaklines or bait...or locking on a spot for crappies.

Counterpoint here- take a peek at the new Bluetooth Terrovas. i-Pilot features are fully integrated into the motor so there is no need to connect to any fishfinder to enable all of the GPS features, like Spot Lock and you can get depth and sonar on any major brand of fishfinder with models that have US2 sonar built in.

New for 2017 there is also lift assist, quieter steering housing and re-engineered i-pilot with the most accurate electronic anchor on the market. Additionally, with the inclusion of Bluetooth in the motors, you can wirelessly update software for i-pilot from your smartphone via a free app. Now you can keep your motor up-to-date even years after you purchase it.

Used mine for half the season. Was pleased with it.
Spot lock is far batter than the old terrova.
Fully integrated with my lowrance which is really helpful especially when walleye trolling. I would have a tough time without it being integrated as I don't really care for the blind remote. I also like that I can tell the motor to go to a previous waypoint aka Muskie follow spot.
I like the jog feature but mine does not always go right when I press right left when I push left etc. I have to look at my map to see which way it is jogging. Anyone else have this issue?
Contrary to most I like the pedal a lot better than the terrova. Wireless and way more compact than the terrova.
I have had the motor make an erratic turn a few times while going high speed on heading lock. Not sure the cause but plan on contacting motor guide about this.

The unit needs to be calibrated to its orientation on the boat. I don't remember the procedure, but it's in the manual.

what were your issues with it? saying good riddance doesn't really inform us what you didn't like?

Crappy foot pedal, taking off full speed randomly when in cruise control mode, unit spinning uncontrollably every now and then when adjusting heading while in heading lock(which really sucks when fishing around rocks). And this is all after updates, GPS replacement, and ultimately replacing the entire unit over two years time. They both did the same things, just a little less frequently with the newer unit vs the original. Motorguide tried their best but just too many bugs.
