Location: Minneapolis, MN | I received an email with a picture of the fish some people heard about being caught a couple weekends ago out of a Barnacle Bob's rental boat. It was caught by Tad Dahl. The fish was measured vertically because the boat was not big enough to lay the fish down so they are not absolutely sure the fish didn't break the 50 mark. It had a 24.5" girth! Not a bad fish for the chain this time of year. Attachments ---------------- Tad_Dahl_49-5_Small.jpg (38KB - 310 downloads)

Location: Minneapolis, MN | The fish was in deed released. That's two 49.5's in the same week caught and released on the chain. Not too shabby. John- I sucked it up pretty good on Vermilion. I only landed a 46. Missed many other fish...because that's what I do best. Frank got a 48 and a 50 the same day. Edited by Luke_Chinewalker 7/15/2003 6:52 AM

Posts: 532 Location: Chicago, IL | I was waiting for the Pewaukee comment. So far that is 3 49.5" fish this year. Not to mention a 49.5 the DNR netted earlier this season that was 32.5lbs. God knows one thing for sure, once they are that big they can feast on some of those monster carp and get even bigger. Also noticing much thicker fish with bigger heads. Looks like the Leech Lake strain is coming through for us. All you toilet bowl haters are going to be eating crow soon...lol -Phil C.

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | Luke / Rich : sorry to hear that fishing sucked on vermillion, Hopefully the rest of us will do better on Sabaskong Outing. I was out on the chain last saturday just going for a boat ride with out of town family saw a guy in a blue ranger pull in what looked like a 36 incher, i think he was fishing for bass as he got in the channel under the RT 120 bridge and was using a small Rapala, did not stick around to see if he released it or not.
