| Hey everyone I'm in the market for a new/used boat. I mainly fish madison and smaller lakes but I will also be out on on Green Bay and Winnebago on a semi regular basis. Heres the catch, I only have a 21 foot garage, so i more than likely need something with a swing tongue trailer. what are some of my best options. Currently looking at Tuffy 1760s but they seem to be a little hard to find. |

Location: Hayward, WI | If your garage is shorter and you also fish big water I think you're on the right track with something fiberglass, and the Tuffy 1760 has been working great for me. I live in NW WI so most of my lakes are smaller but I do go to LOTW each year. Last couple years I've had at least one day where we got into pretty major waves out there and the boat really impresses me in rough water. I've just plowed through stuff at 18-20 mph that I wouldn't have even gotten my Alumacraft Navigator 165 on plane in.
If it's really rough, the boat will still bob up and down a bit at rest, but again not NEARLY as bad as a smaller aluminum boat will.
There's not many of the 1760's out there. I wanted nothing but a 1760 GT version, but if you are more flexible regarding capped or not, and want a console you'll find something if you are a little patient.
I'll sell you my 2008 1760 GT for just a little less than a new one costs (hehe).

| I don't know that an 18 foot Ranger fits in a 21 foot garage. Once you look at how much space the engine takes up, and the tongue, even with a swing away hitch, that's a tough space to fit.
I had an 18 footer in a 23 foot garage, swing away tongue. I think I had like 20-22 inches to spare. Taking off 24 inches makes that one pretty tough.
Putting it in at a little angle would help the issue, though. |

| Not saying. 17,5' won't handle it. But boats can sit outside with a tarp. Done this for 20 years after a hailstorm got the truck, boats handle hail like nothing. It's only annoying in the winter with snow, you need to move it off. Or take 2 sheets of play wood and a few 2x4s. Garages do shrink up a lot I have a 20' boat with swing tounge in a 30' garage and there is only 18" each end give or take. 10"jack plate doesn't help. I have got it in a 27' garage but to squeeze behind it I had the motor turned to the side all the way. I'm saying a better deal may be out there on a 19-20' boat. I'm a firm believer in buy the best boat deal wise and worry about storage and a truck to pull it later.

| If you have a dual stall garage, you can probably get a 20' boat in it. Just have to angle it is all. I have a 21" deep garage, it's a 3 car but the boat goes in the dual side. My old 1850 Reata and WX 1910 fit about the same, but there's plenty of room and the wife's car can go in the single stall. |

| I've stored mine outside for years. Built teepee supports with 2 by 4's and foam to go under the canvas boat cover (you can get them custom made). Buttons up tight as a bug for winter. Like previously mentioned when snow gets high just brush it off. Never had an issue. |
