Location: oswego, il | This is the older mercury that ran on two cylinders then kicked in the other two at a certain rpm? I am pretty sure that is the motor you are talking about. Mercury made it for a long time and was a good motor. Replaced by the efi line. |

| Have a 1988 100 hp model , not the best for skiing since there is only two cylinders at first. But it has been a decent motor ran the heck out of it for 15 years. Only had to replace the ecu for 300$ back in 2004? It's probably running 70 hp now days and doesn't like to idle/ puts around... But it does keep working. |

Location: Arena WI | I have one for 12 years only problem i had was a trim switch shorted out, got battery disconnected just in time to save the wiring harness. but that can happen on any motor.
Other wise no problems have changed plugs once and run sea foam a few times a year.

Location: NE PA | I had this motor on my 18' bass boat for a while and it was an excellent engine. never had an issue. They made a 100, 115, and 125hp model IIRC.
Slightly off topic, but If anyone is interested, I have a brand new set of Chris Carson Marine reeds for one of these motors. I purchased them for a little added reliablitly/power increase and upgraded to a new optimazx before I ever had the opportunity to install them. I will let them go cheap. Just PM me. |
