Posts: 49 Location: Minocqua, WI | Pasenger Console or not? I'm considering adding it over the winter and am curious if anyone has it? Do you like it? I'm leaning towards ordering it, but also am afraid to lose the free space. It's so nice to have that open area to move around. I have been releasing my fishing in that open area. I think the console really gives it a nice look. Plus more storage is always good. Edited by kmeyer 9/18/2016 4:22 PM

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | Not the same but i had a single console crestliner started tacking my mother fishing she will be 86 in November. I bought a skeeter MX 1825 dule console she likes the skeeter much better . Going from spot to spot its not so windey .and there's still plenty of room up front to fish. I would not buy a boat without but thats me you have to decide what works for you.

Posts: 1209 | I got a tarp for a dual console when I got my new boat, And thought about getting the pasenger console... No way I'd give up that room at this point. Maybe when I'm "old".

Posts: 206 | Can the extra side console be added/removed? Or is it something you have to order or not order up front and live with it? I think most manufacturers offer the flexibility of adding/subtracting a feature like this. Anyone know on the Pro-V Bas?

Posts: 49 Location: Minocqua, WI | Thanks everyone for the input! I was hoping to hear from people who actually have the Pro V Bas with the console. There's probably not many of them around yet since it's such a new boat. It is def removable

Posts: 100 | I have a 2005 Crestliner CMV - virtually the same layout as the Pro-V Bas (minus a decade's worth of improvements). My port-side console (like the Lund's) in removable...in fact the guy I bought it from had it off and stored in his garage. I put it back on for a couple reasons: 1) Pasenger comfort in crappy weather. 2) Increased storage (extra dashboard, space underneath with a little creative thinking). I give up a hunk of deck space that's maybe 24" x 30" in a place on the boat I just don't use for anything else. Were something to happen to my CMV, I'd buy a new Lund Pro-V Bas in a heartbeat, and it'd be a dual console.

Posts: 228 Location: Tinley Park, IL | Further North is giving the reasons for the pasenger console and I agree with all of them. After fishing this summer with the X-190 I have decided to take out the pasenger console. Here's why: 1) I fish by myself about 80% of the time. 2) With the pasenger console out, I can store rods next to the pasenger seat so they won't be laying on the deck. Right now I don't put any rods there when I am fishing by myself. 3) I can put the net on the floor with the handle leaning towards the bow. Sure, I can put the handle between the console but I can't lay it out flat. And since I fish so much smallmouth with light line I net just about anything over 16" so it will be easier to grab while fighting a fish. 4) There is a lot floor space between the seats and the front of the deck. I am 6' and I have loads of foot room. I am going to build a compartment to put in front of the deck that will hold everything that was in my glovebox plus more. It will also act as a step for my small kids. Overall, if you can't order the pasenger console after you get the boat then I would recommend getting the console when you buy the boat. There's definitely pros and cons with each. Good luck.

Posts: 100 | Quick sidebar: For a great smallie net, get a Frabil 17" x 21" trout net...I stick on on top of my bait boxes in a forward compartment, another in my converted live well in the back. http://asets.academy.com/mgen/46/10077446.jpg They'll hold a 6 pound smallie just fine, take up almost no space and are better for a fisherman who is by himself to handle than a long handled net. I keep three nets in my boat: the two mentioned above, a, EGO S2 with a black rubber net on the back deck and a musky sized Frabil Power Stow that fits flat on the floor in front of the pasenger seat. None are in the way, all are instantly accessible when I need them.

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | I have muskie fished a long time, 30 plus years and the one big thing I have learned is HAVE THE NET READY! To the point the handle is extended all the time (I actually put a screw in the power catch mechanism on my Frabil so the handle is always extended), the same with my previous Bechman. As I briefly sit here I can recall several dozen plus good fish that hit at boat side that we have gotten that we simple would not have gotten if the net was not ready NOW. (Just last week we boated 7 good fish (one 50) and 6 out of 7 hit on the 8). The net was ready NOW which eliminated one more thing that needed to happen during a tense time. You also need to ask yourself would you be able to extend the handle alone? Or could your wife or girlfriend, or young son handle getting a net ready while you have a 30 pounder thrashing at boat side? Maybe, but having the net ready again eliminates one more potential for a screw up. Years ago (prior to the power catch) I can still picture a guy who went to extend his net only to have the handle in one hand and the hoop in the other. With a single console the hoop can be slide next to the passenger seat and the handle can extend up onto the deck. The handle is basically at the left foot of the guy running the trolling motor and is ready NOW. I have yet to fish out of a dual console or full windshield where equal net accessibility is possible to that of what we do with a single console. For me folded up on the floor or the bag placed over the motor isn't going to cut it. I also don't want it in a position I need to move it every time I go to a new spot. Now granted I would consider myself a die hard type of muskie fishermen. But it is for this reason I would never own a dual console or full windshield. Oh, I am absolutely positive it would be nice, I spend a considerable amount of time of LOTW and it would certainly have its place. But when it is rough I just tell the passenger to put his rain coat on with the hood up and sit backward and they stay dry as a bone. Boats have added some great features, it's almost like they need to design a pocket to hold the net? Have a good weekend. Edited by btfish 9/25/2016 5:20 AM

Posts: 206 | "But when it is rough I just tell the passenger to put his rain coat on with the hood up and sit backward and they stay dry as a bone." I agree, for the handful of times you have to do this per season it's worth it IMO and a better trade off than having to constantly work around the passenger console - which for the way I fish is in the way of laying rods on the port deck, landing bigger fish by netting, etc). Plus just more elbow room and cockpit space. "Boats have added some great features, it's almost like they need to design a pocket to hold the net?" I also agree, the best solution I've seen is the pocket that BassCat has to slide nets into. They also just put one into the new Yar-craft 20 foot tiller. Edited by smalljaw 9/25/2016 10:13 AM
