Posts: 431 | Generally speaking what wind speed does it become dicey on Green Bay? Not taking into account boat size.

Posts: 229 | So much to consider. But I can tell you a constant 15 MPH will really get it rolling. Even 10 MPH from the wrong direction can make it tough to hold on a spot casting. Like if you were way out trying to fish West to East and you had a 10 MPH South wind coming from many miles. It will be a challenge keeping boat on spot for casting. However, if the wind was from the West and you were working West to East, 10 MPH and even more would give you a nice drift.

Posts: 390 | A 10-15 mph north wind will push most boats off GB. Best to go out in a west wind, assuming you plan to fish the community spots near the lower bay. Edited by bbeaupre 8/9/2016 4:12 PM

Posts: 1220 | Always have a sea anchor, and in rough water, have it out and ready to deploy! Sooner or later you'll know why!

Posts: 88 Location: Wisconsin | For us, 10mph from anything north is our limit. Maybe a little more from the south or east. West gives quite a bit more leeway. A day or so of steady north winds makes it real interesting regardless of wind speed due to rollers. I've had more days than not, cut short due to the wind. Can really change in a hurry too. Tom

Posts: 229 | Don't ever plan a trip in advance to GB... If you do, you will likely be burned by a change in the weather forecast of 15-25 MPH winds...

Posts: 393 | the Bay is one of my "I have to fish that someday" spots. Are there good back up Muskie options in the area if the wind blows you out?

Posts: 676 Location: Wisconsin | You can fish the river in the fall if the bay is too rough. But agree with above, 10mph winds really get things going. Even on Sunday, the winds were light but out of the north and bigger rollers were coming down the bay. West winds are nice.
