| All research shows lots of hazards. I was wondering which boat launch would be best for just dropping the trolling motor and casting away too avoid big motor use. I also read that its a good idea to not put your boat in other waters for some time after pulling out of the flowage.....why?

Location: Western U.P. | The best launch is in the town of Gile, and the next best one is off of Hwy C. A LOT of rocks all over (even more so on the West end), but not too bad to navigate. Get a good topo map of the lake, and take it slower. Have never heard of your last statement about not putting your boat in other waters after a while, and I live pretty close to it. Just take normal precautions as you would in any lake about draining/cleaning, etc.

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | If you launch at the town launch, and stay to the left of the first islands, you can run it down full bore no worries to the other end of the lake. SE Side of the lake seemed mostly safe
I'm sure there are many hazards, but there's a real nasty offshore rock SW of the Big Island about 3 cast lengths off shore...almost found that one the hard way |

| I think it's cuz of spiny water flea that they recommend making sure your boat is dry. Follow the AIS routine and you should be kosher. |

| Thanks. Seems like a very scenic lake, can't wait to try it. I'm getting feedback on rocks but I thought that there was a ton of stump fields out there too. Are they more visible or underwater hazards mostly?

Location: Ashland WI | The hazards can be both. The water level can fluctuate quite a bit because the power company controls the dam. |

Location: oswego, il | What ledo said. Water fluctuations can be pretty drastic. If the water level is low the rocks are exposed. |
