Just left from a week long trip. The week was good as we moved around a dozen fish each day. We boated 12 with the top being 41,43 and 44. Lost a few other nice fish as well. Cranks bucks worked well as the norm. We did not have any luck on top water baits but take that for what it's worth. Good luck

Agree with Propster. Todd, Kim and Family at Tamarack are the best hosts ever. Our 3rd time starts in 2 weeks. Can't wait!

Report: Slow, slow slower. Series of storms beginning Aug,2nd, high winds during week.. two fish 47, 38. Saw 6 more. I'm going back alone and fishing all week 13th to21st.. Going to figure out where they are. Trying 2nd break trolling, bait balls in open water and deep dogs where walleyes are stacked. I'm going to figure them out. I know they are there. some of the guys are doing great. Maybe just a tough spell.

Me and my partner dabbled in Sabaskong from 8/7-8/9. Not sure what I expected, but
we were pretty taken aback by the pressure on that end of the lake. Granted, we didn't really know spots, but we only contacted maybe 12 fish ( that we could see at least in the beyond cloudy water) in that window. Hooked up with a handful or so and caught nothing even worth measuring. I'd assume if you know the spots it was better?

About the only weeds we found were growing outside the tool shed, err "cabin" rather, that we stayed at.

Things are turning around, 4 50's, a 49, 47.5 and a 45 in the last 3 days, with only 3 parties in camp.

Late report, but 2 of us fished out of Mylies Place Aug 13-20. Arrived fairly late on the 13th so we fished 6 full days. Scratched out 10 for the week, with 48.5, 44, 41, 40, 40 being the 5 biggest. Had a few in the low/mid 30's at the start of the week.

Wasn't easy fishing. Had lots of sun and little wind. Only took the rain gear out once the whole week and we didn't even need to. Maybe we would have had more luck with a little more wind and some clouds or even a storm system move through?

Not a whole lot of a pattern, but we caught our fish from rocks. Midlake rocks held the bigger fish. Caught about 1/2 our fish banging Depthraiders into rocks, and about the other half on bucktails, double 9's and 10's. The 48 was on a black/chart-flame Spanky double 10, and the 44 on a Depthraider. Firetiger or Miller Perch on the Depthraiders.

Water was pretty dirty/brown most everywhere, but we didn't run into a lot of bloom issues other than where the wind was blowing into Obabikon bay.

Fishing was tough but another great trip at Mylie's! Highly recommended for a nice clean place to stay.

Just got back from Mylie`s today - best place to stay SUPER clean resort
Didn't fish Saturday raining wife said NO - Sunday had heavy fog till almost 11 in the morning late start. had some wind all week, a few guys said they moved fish after 8 @ night - I fished only till 6-7 pm did better in afternoons after lunch
I didnt travel far from Mylies all week
Fishing was a bit slow - caught a fish everyday nothing bigger than a nice thick 44 ( first fish of trip lol )
Water was very stained - algae bloom starting also
Very hard to see any follows unless they were very hot on the lure
I fish mainly rocks banging (Depth raider ) perch - then switched mid week to weeds ( spinner baits for the rest of my fish ) didn`t see many fish on rocks late in the week.
I would say you`ll be hitting them just right going to turn on like mad soon for sure ( gotta eat )
Hope this helps you some - I throw depth raiders 90% of the time so my report might not help you much
Good luck you`ll be fine

Thanks for the report, last year was a lot like your report. Banging rocks was the best, but fish came on all types of lures. This will be my second concencutive year strictly skis.

I did well on bucktails (mostly kramer bros but some on dadsons) and had some success in the evenings on surface baits (caught 3 and had a chance at one or more every night using tsunamis and lake x lures). Spinner baits and bobbie baits were good choices among others in my group. I even caught one on a warlock...that was a first for me.

Most of the days, it seemed like the fish were up tight to the shoreline or cruising sunken points on various islands. They also seemed clustered and had narrow feeding windows. Of my 17 fish, 8 were caught in pairs less than 20 minutes apart. It reminded me alot of Vermilion where the fish were either on or off, not much in between. You could go hours without seeing one, then see 2 very aggressive fish and have a chance at both. I got lucky and usually caught both this week.

Bull rushes/rock combination was also quite good.

anyone know if the bridge on 46 right around Squaw Lake has been completed, or is the detour still in place?

Going up one last time(This year!!) to try and salvage some of my season and dedicate some time to actual productive fishing instead of the last trip where I was basically just a tour guide!! heard water temps are 66-68 range and falling slowly, has potential, but we will see how it shakes out. Be up Monday the 12th - Fri. the 16th... any new "secret spots"? we have 10 fish off just one of your spots you gave me last year!

I could give you some others but I won't just yet! You'll have to remind me which of my spots showed you 10 fish, that's pretty good. Good luck, hope you have a great trip or

Fished last week out of Split Rock Lodge for my first trip to the LOTW's. We had a great time. I will def return to Split Rock and as you all already know, LOTW's is a special place. Fishing was tough. We only caught 6 Muskie and two 35inch Pike. All were mid to upper 30's and not much of a pattern. 2 off straight shorelines, 2 off a rock island and 2 in the back of real shallow weedy bays. We spent a lot of time targeting rocky points off mainland or islands, but had little luck. We did have 3 follows of very large fish near the 50 inch mark. Double 10's were not moving fish at all for us. We caught one on top water and the others were all on jointed cranks.

Even with the small fish, I'm so glad we went there. LOTW's is amazing by itself!

I was there from 9/2 to 9/8.........Poor..........few follows, one 46 and one 41 three under 40 and that's it for a week and we fished hard. Tried shallow, deep, weeds ect.

Good luck, going back the 22nd for another try.

Well one last time for me Sept. 23-30. I hope the shallow move is on by the big girls, but the way this year has been, who knows. Either shallow or slow moving dogs on second breaks is the strategy for this trip. A full report upon return.

Just got back yesterday. Took 2 night long weekend trip. Topwater and cranks got all the action. Only had 1 follow on bucktails. Saw 20 fish in the 2 days. Caught 2 38's and 2 over 30 pike. Pulled the tooth out of a jaw on a crank on a big one. Had a giant hit a bulldawg in the head and pulled a chunk out of it and tore up leader...no hooks. A couple swings and misses on topwater and several follows on topwater that didn't commit. All fish 10 feet or less as expected. Tried some deep breaks but nothing. Water temp 62-64. Algae bloom was not an issue at all. Least amount i've seen in the last 3 Septembers. Going through sunset channel last year you were driving on a matt of algae...not even close to that this year. Conditions are prime and the fish are shallow.
