| I like the idea of a smaller low profile reel for jerk baits. I've always been a Shimano guy so I'm leaning towards the Curado 300E. Any problems throwing the larger wooden jerk baits with this reel? Is there a better option? |

Location: St. Lawrence River | I put the standard double handle from my Beast 60 on my S 60.. it works great. Or a S 50 would be a slick jerkbaits reel as well. |

Location: Minnesota | I'm with you. I'm a Shimano guy also I use a 400 TE. The only low profile reel I use is the Tranx and you really don't need that for Jenks unless you have money to burn |

| I really like the 300e but the drag on it is not ideal for large wooden jerkbaits even with the carbontex upgrade. I throw large jerks about 90% of the time and in my experience it will slip on hook set and often times this will result in poor hook up. I like shimano as well but i use the beast 60 hs and really like it for large jerks. |

| Komodo users... How long you been using them? Any complaints? I've been stubbornly using my Abu 6500 c3 I bought in the mid 90s on my jerk bait rod but plan on upgrading it this winter. The $25-$50 annual parts repair is getting a little silly when there so much more effective options out there. I was thinking maybe the Lexa 300 HD but the Komodo would be a little cheaper, I use jerkbaits seldomly. |

Location: Lake County Illinois | My Komodos are going on 3 seasons with no issues, plus Okuma has a 3 year warranty on the Komodo 350.Really looking forward to getting my hands on the Komodo 450 that should be out soon. |

| Thanks for the feedback guys.
Sounds like the Curado 300e may not have the drag I'm looking for. I'd have trouble trying another okuma as I had an issue with one a few years ago (I'm old school that way). I'll check out the Lexa and beast, but may just stick with the TE.

Location: Detroit River | I use a Komodo 350 for my jerk/glide bait rod. I like the reel a lot but the spool is moving a little when I jerk the bait so looks like I need to call Okuma for some warranty work.

Location: St Paul, Minnesota | I used to switch off between my Shimano Curado 300e and Calcutta D, but I've sold both of those and upgraded to the newShimano Calcutta Conquest 400. It's a great Jerk/Glide Reel!

| I put a Shimano 400D on my jerk bait rod. Love it. Reel is offset to help palming. Very smooth, great drag. |
