You need to add a hydraulic spring piston. Like a smaller version of what's on the rear hatch of your car

The aforementioned; or you could use a stick like the hood of a car.

On my 621 I leave small bungee cords tied around the inside lock on the two side battery hatches, when I want them to stay open I just hook the bungee cord on the rail.

Here's a picture of the bungee cord deal I use for my side battery compartments. It actually works better in this situation than the hydraulic spring piston. I just have the cord tied around the backside of the lock and let it dangle inside when compartment lid is closed.

Spring hatch holders work great. just have to tap them in the middle to close the hatch. I have used them for years on my salt water boats, and now on my freshwater boat.

do a quick search on spring hatch support and you'll see an example

Those springs look like they would work great, and they're pretty inexpensive too.

I have pistons on my other hatches, but preferably the bungee cord because there's barely enough room to get the batteries in and out of those compartments and they won't stay open on their own.
