Considering a trip to Wabigoon in late August. Would be out of Merkel's camp if we go. Are the fish still shallow at that time of year? Pike still available shallow? Is it mostly a day bite? Looking to avoid late night fishing. Will be more of a fishing vacation so multiple shorter trips on the water each day would be the norm. Appreciate any thoughts/experiences.

As I understand, fish rarely go deep on lakes that are as muddy as Wabigoon.

They do, actually, probably because the lake has cleared up quite a bit. Last year we were contacting muskies on days when the wind was howling and rain flying trolling 13' down over 20'.
