My brother's inlaws have a place on Big Round Lake out past Luck and Balsam Lake.

The Wisc DNR says there are muskies present.

Has anyone fished it and is it worth musky fishing?

Thanks - Ball Cap

We have fished it for Muskies multiple times... Never a sniff. Dynamite bass lake though! Muskies are in there, as are some big pike we just have never gotten them to show themselves.

It was stocked only twice in the early 60's. In 1989 a 50 pounder was caught there. Doubtful there is much if any muskeis left there now...but ya never know.

There will likely always be a small population of muskies in Big Round as, although not directly stocked, they migrate into Big Round from Bone Lake (via Blake Lake/Straight River). Not a numbers game at all, but there are some nice fish in there.

I have seen three different muskies fishing for bass over the years. Have never went specifically for muskie with Bone next door.

Ball cap, too funny, my mother in law has a cabin on that lake. So the past 4 years spent a lot of time on the water. Fun little lake for bass and crappie....crappie fishing has been awesome the past two summers....good times to teach the young ones how to fish. But muskies, I have never rose or seen one. Have caught some nice northerns though. Every time we head to Big Round for the weekend, I always say I'm going to Bone....but end up bass or crappie fishing on Big Round. I learned to only bring one muskie rod the past two years as I will make a couple casts, but after hammering that lake 3 and 4 years, and not seeing crap, I gave up. My wife's uncle is the lake association president, and mentions every year one or two muskies are caught, primarily by a walleye fisherman. And the tribe nets have one every once in awhile. I wish they would stock skies, maybe keep the bass explosion in check....which I feel is the reason why they can't get walleye numbers going in Big Round (stock walleyes every year). I can say the only walleye I caught out there was bass fishing...gave up on the walleye fishing as well....to much fun to take the little dudes out and smoke bass and crappie....anytime of the spring or summer...crazy.
