| I have a 1999 Ranger 681vs an was wondering where to put the transducer. Anyone have it mounted to the step of the hull? Pictures would be great. Thanks |

Location: Central Wisconsin | Not a Humminbird transducer, but I recently mounted my Lowrance structure scan transducer on the step of my '01 681vs. See some pics on the below link.

Most of the images at the link are on bassboats that normally have a jackplate—for these rigs the “normal” way to mount would be to put the SI transducer on the jackplate and use a y-cable so you can use a second 2D-only transducer epoxied in the bilge. This keeps the expensive SI transducer above the bottom of the boat where it’s protected from hitting rocks/stumps/bottom and avoids drilling holes in the boat, but the ducer epoxied in the bilge allows depth readings when on plane and at higher speeds, I think better than one that is transom-mounted. I’ve got this setup and get a good-enough sonar display and depth readout up over 55mph from the transducer in the bilge. If you don’t have a jackplate you can still put a SI ducer under the step, but unless the surface of the transducer is below the bottom of the hull so it’s wet when you are on plane you will lose your depth and sonar any time you are on plane, so you’d need to run a second transducer in the bilge. To do this you’d need a Y-cable and a XP-9-20 transducer in addition to whatever hardware you use to mount the SI ducer.

Location: Fifield | I also have mine mounted on the jackplate while using a y-cable and through hull transducer for 2d. The side/down imaging transducer is out of harms way and I still get good sonar reading at high speed. |

Location: Watertown, MN | Has anyone run the Hummingbird side imaging, along side a lowrance unit, having both pucks hung on the rear, wondering if there is interference issues. Look running lowarance 10 for graph and gps, and bird for imaging
