Yes it was caught out of season fishing for walleyes but what a monster and really neat caught by a young lad who loves muskies.

Cool story! My only side issue is they call this a 60 pound fish, but Larry Ramsell's “Modified Crawford Formula” puts this fish at 52.48 lbs...

It's a news story for a kid, who cares about the specifics.

Congrats to the kid, his smile says it all.

This story was on our local news last night too and after the story the anchor says "I've never even heard of a musky." Haha I wanted to reach through the TV and slap her... SMH.

I hope his family can afford to have a reproduction made. What a terrific fish. I find it interesting that so many giant muskies are caught on bass and walleye baits. I think I might dump the double tens and switch to an 1/8 ounce jig with a minnow or plastic.

I am so happy for that kid and his dad.

Amazing that a stocked fish can grow that big! Hat's off to the guys that got the stocking of the Bay going back in the 80's. I still recall the flack we got when we proposed doing this and how people said it would never work.
