Posts: 259 | I resently aquired some 2lb bulldawgs and would like to know if it is possible to modify them in such a way that they run like a shallow pounder bulldawg, anyone ever experimented on this with weighted rubber baits in general?

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | You woudl have to remove weight form the lead head. Drill out some of the lead or remove rubber. Just be careful to not drill through the through wire. Iffy procedure....

Location: Eagle Lake Vermilion Bay, Ontario | 20+yrs ago when dawgs first really hit the mainstream, way before the shallow dog, when we wanted to get up on top of reefs and shallower, snaggy structure or over weeds we just inserted a barbed wire into the butt of the tail with a swivel/ring at the other end using varying colorado blade sizes depending on how much you wanted to slow down the drop.. i believe musky innovations now has them available or you can just make em. works good for joes and over/under dawgs between the tails too and also a good option to consider for those nite fishing rubber to add a diff twist and vibration to the equation.works great, easy to do,predictble results .other than that i would just ask brad at a show if he would custom make you one with less weight. a two pounder is not a cheap bait and any mod previously described ......could probably be done but, good luck. steve herbeck AML prop emeritus, guest fishing instruction coordinatior, master guide, marketing facebook.com/AndyMyersLodge www.andymyerslodge.com
