| Hey guys, I want to preface this question by saying I am a complete newbie when it comes to electronics so bear with me please. I have a Lowrance LCX27C at the console on my boat and a cheap sonar-only unit up at the bow. I just bought a Lowrance HDS7 Gen2 and my goal is to replace the LCX27C with the HDS and move the LCX27C up front so I have GPS capabilities at the bow and console. My question what is the easiest way to do this. Can/should I use the external GPS puck on the LC27 upfront without connecting the two units? Or is it possible I could network the two with an ethernet cable? Again, I apologize for being a moron with electronics, but any help would be appreciated! Thanks |

Location: Minnesota. | On the off-chance you don't get satisfaction here the Lowrance service people have been pretty helpful to me on a couple occasions. They actually do try to help a newby out in understandable language.

Location: Nowheresville, MN | Ethernet is not for adding pucks. NEMA 2000 only. You can share waypoints still, just not sonar. Use the puck, but specify the internal antennae on the hds in data sources.

Location: Park Rapids, MN | Did some research before I ordered the Elite 7 TI's. They can share waypoints through NMEA 2000 but not transducer info like one would get through an ethernet connection. Will work well for what I will be using the units for. If I am mistaken please let me know. I have plenty of time to come up with other electronic options. Thanks. |

| Sledman check your Pm.
You can connect an HDS and LCX together via NMEA 2000 and use the HDS as the GPS source for the LCX. There are some things to be aware of NMEA 2000 it requires a power source, the LCX units power the NMEA and the HDS require a separate power source for NMEA 2000 thru a power node. Make sure to disconnect the LCX NMEA 2000 power source to the NMEA and install a power node to power the NMEA 2000. And then select the HDS as the GPS source for the LCX. I believe your LCX has a Ethernet port on it if you connect that you can share 2D screen between the 2
