Can anyone post a picture or two of how you have your Lowrance structure scan transducer mounted on your Ranger? I don't have a jack plate, so I was thinking about mounting on the "step" near the drain plug on my 681vs. I'm pretty sure I'll glass the standard transducer inside, and shoot through the hull. Trying to avoid drilling too many holes in the boat. Thanks in advance!

I don't have a picture as my 619 is in storage but my structure scan transducer is on the "step" you are referring to but offset to the right of the drain plug. I haven't had any issues with its location.

Muskers,
I'm curious if you have it mounted directly to the top of the step, or if you have it mounted to the "front" with the supplied mounting bracket. When I google this, it shows me a lot of them mounted to the transom with bracket, and a few mounted to the jack plate. I guess I'm curious what the most popular/best way is.
TIA

Mine is on the step, but hanging out the back. I didn't want it at the lowest point of the boat so it didn't get knocked around in low water or at the ramp. But if you mount it too high on the front bulkhead of the step, you may not have L/R clearance to see adequately. Mine is out the back, I don't have a jackplate and my LSS view is great. No motor wash interference.

Mine is on the step and flush with the back of the step. I wasn't the one who mounted it as that's the way my boat came. I can attest that I do not get interference and my graphing is great. I don't know when you are planning on mounting this but I will be getting my boat from storage in 3 weeks.

I've attached two images showing mounting on the "step". I know I would be concerned having it on the lowest portion of the boat and after seeing my graphs working great with the transducer on the "step" I would mount it there again WHEN I buy my next boat.

If you mount it like in the top pic, I would have the cable come out the back of the transdcuer and not have it bent so sharp like shown in the picture. You can set what way it is facing in the setup.

In other words flip the transducer around so it is facing the opposite direction?

Check these mounting brackets. Easy to mount on step and also protect transducer!

Yes, it can be mounted facing either way.

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do. Hopefully I can get it done this weekend, open water is approaching fast.

Would you mount the side scan transducer for a Helix in the same spot/fashion? In that position is it able to read when on plane or will it be out of the water? Anyone know if a Helix 7 requires a regular transducer for regular sonar and is it included? Or is just the side scan transducer included and will read at high speed? Thanks

Just mounted mine on the step of a 681vs. works great and protected from any obstacles. Doesn't work when on plane. Need another transducer for that.
