I have been fishing Pewaukee for years now and am finding I'm wasting my time for smaller fish. My question is would okachee be my best bet for larger fish in the waukesha area. I fish the Madison chain once a week but want a lake closer to home where I have a better chance at a bigger fish. I am not concerned about numbers as I am about size. Feel free to PM me.
Thanks
Blake

Define "bigger fish". If "bigger fish" are 40-42" fish, then I'd stay on Pewaukee, and fish differently than you currently are. Big fish are in there, just have to fish for them different than the 30-35" fish.

If you're looking for 45"+, then Okauchee and Oconomowoc are a better bet. Those lakes each fish differently than each other, and both fish WAY different than Pewaukee.

That's about as much detail as anyone should give on those highly pressured waters. For more details, go to the Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc meeting at The Machine Shed next Tuesday at 7pm. There are plenty of members of that club who catch big fish out of all of those waters, spark up a conversation with them, you'll be surprised how much they can help the learning curve for those bodies of water. And, plus, Steve Herbeck is giving a seminar that night on "Targeting Big Fish".
