Posts: 3913 | Many thanks to Cisco and his brother Cory who helped me trailer my little boat in gale-like conditions well after dark on Friday night. First, I had to follow them into the landing, at times my bow went 5-6' in the air and then came crashing down. Big rollers slamming straight into the boat landing caused water to blast over the transom. Two or three good shots and the boat would have been swamped. So we jerked it up on the sand as far a possble, used the tilt-trailer feature of the trailer, and heaved and grunted and groaned until we finally got her loaded. Cisco and Cory were no less than heroic helping me out.

Posts: 419 Location: Appleton, WI | Hey Ranger who looks younger. Travis or Corey? Or do they both look like they just received their drivers license? Man, that had to be pretty scary. Travis was telling me on Saturday about what happened. Glad to hear that you made it back safe. Good to hear that you seen a couple fish also. catch ya later, Krappie

Posts: 3913 | All you guys look like you could be just out of high school. That's good, you'll appreciate it greatly in 20 years or so. It was a foolish thing for me to get caught out on the lake after dark like that. I had heard the weather reports about how the wind was supposed to come up at dark, but it sure didn't seem too bad as we were fishing the north end of the lake. Maybe the sound of the rain pelting my hood prevented me from hearing the tree tops blowing around, that's what I usually pay attention to to gauge the wind. Two days later (yesterady) I was back and raised a FAT mid to upper 40"s fish. Man, she came back twice after I tossed throwbacks at her. Once she even took a snap just as I twitched the bait, I clearly saw the big white maw of her mouth right as I pulled the bait away! DANG DANG DANG!!!

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | WOW Ranger- Glad you're safe & that the raging Stella Blue Fin muskie machine made it through the "perfect muskie storm". Just don't go scaring us like that, I'd hate to lose my best net man. Maybe good idea to invest in one of the survival life rafts (the round orangy things with the bubble tent covering) you could use it as a casting deck until it's needed. Awe bad thought, I know you could never abandon ship- maybe better to get a rescue suit so that once she goes to the briney deep, ya can pop to the surface like big orange topwater, just don't flail around to much, i.e., may attract a toothy critter.
Seriously- very glad you're safe & you had some fellow Muskie hunters to help you out. Al Warner "the zalt dances like a stripper in need of cash" ToddM 2003
