Posts: 21 | i am looking for a new summer fishing destination up in canada. I go on a fly in with family friends at the begging of the year and me and a buddy also go up later in the summer. last year we drove up to wawang lake and it was not very good. my buddy had been going there for many years and he had said the year before and this year the fishing was just off. we maybe got 3 35+ northerns all week. Just wondering if any of you guys have a good lake, doesn't need musky up in canada that you can drive to. open to anything and struggling to find anything that looks really good online. thought id ask you guys Ben

Posts: 1039 Location: North St. Paul, MN | Lac Seul - West side, big walleyes with pretty good numbers, smallmouth fishing is getting better. ok northern fishing Lac Seul - East side, amazing number of walleyes, decent smallmouth fishing, great northern fishing, and a chance at a giant musky (numbers aren't great, but we've okay over there). West side is easier to get to and cheaper...much cheaper. East end is more remote and way higher cost. Good luck in your search.

Posts: 2017 | Look at Gullrock Lake in Ontario (just south of Red Lake).. haven't been in years, I went 5 straight years back in the late 90's -2002 for a week long trips... 3 guys we'd get 6 to 15 40"+ pike a day! Including (3) giants that were 47"+ ... Lots of 18-25" walleyes too if you want to mess with those. Not sure what its like now but is was pretty much all catch and release for big pike back then so I assume its still pretty dang good! Edited by IAJustin 11/3/2015 12:21 PM

Posts: 1039 Location: North St. Paul, MN | Never been because it's out of my price range, but a "bucket list" week long trip for walleyes, pike, and bass AND drive to would be silver water wheel. Centrally located on Lac Seul, fully guided...looks awesome. Great website too...

Lot of options on LOTW or Eagle Lake at that price point. Ash Rapids on LOTW has nearby access to the narrows leading into Shoal Lake.......miles of island/reef filled water with good Musky and bass #'s. You cant fish for walleye once you enter the narrows, but all water north of there is legal and full of eyes/musky and smallies. Cant beat LOTW for multi species, #'s and size for a reasonable $.
