Is anyone familiar with the term "Sands of September"?

A fellow told me that it refers to hot spells in September, similar to one we had the first part of the month in Northern WI. It is said that during these periods, muskies will tend to hang out in very shallow sandy areas while fishermen are hanging out over deep structure.

Just wondering.

It is true. I look forward to it every year. I find them within a cast or 2 of weed clumps or beds. They are aggressive with short follows before hitting hard. I always found it best in the mornings. before light to about 10 am but they can be there all day or move into the shallow weeds and even back to summer haunts as the day progresses ,then return to shallow sand at some point after dark.. some years it seems to last only a few days and others up to a few weeks. reeds and cat tails are good too.
Let your bait hit the shore or reeds and drag it in the water as they are often only a few feet from the shore and bait splash can spook them.
