I'm working on my buddies 1999 Lund 1600 Pro V. The live wells fill up to the water to the water line on when we put the boat in the water and the aerators don't work and I need to replace them.Fuses good but can't find the aereators. How can water come in and how to fix problem.Any advice greatly appreciated.
Gman.

Does it fill up with the boat just sitting still or when you cruise across the lake? Reason I ask, I know my boat has a "high speed" pickup and it will pump water when going at high rates of speed. Even if I do not have the aerator "ON" it will still put water into the livewell.

I've got a Esox Mag that fills the live well via the overflow for the livewell. I plug the overflow and problem solved.

Soon as you drop it in the water both the front and rear live wells fill up to the water line.

Do you have the valve control that you slide back and forth?
I have a 94 Pro V and when I leave the valve control on empty no water enters the live wells.

I also have the slide controls on a 96...took some time on the water experimenting and figuring these out. Like Nick said, I would slide them to empty for now, install new pumps, and then work the issues out on the water. If not, buy a couple of plugs as mentioned.
I found my pumps under the floor, center forward. There should be a smaller carpeted floor panel, just remove the screws and pry it up. My pumps were a snap to change out. You will also be able to see those slide valve cables in the same area as the pumps...just to be sure the slides are working correctly.
It's a good system once you figure it out.

maybe this is the Engineer in me talking but you hear about this on all kinds of different boats. Why don't they install a check valve in this line? You know......the type that only allows water to go out and not come in. Just a thought

Same line is used both ways.
