Posts: 51 | Ranger released a new 22 foot bass boat with a deep hull. Hull is based off the 621 series. Rod storage can fit a 8.5 footer. Looks like the perfect big water boat for those who do not troll. Lots of pictures over at bassboat central. The picture below shows it next to a Z520c. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b575/Anglers_Port_Marine/1_2015... Edited by hobeybaker 7/18/2015 8:22 AM

Posts: 194 Location: Lake Elmo, MN | Hard to tell much from the photos but it appears to be a slight bit deeper than a 521 with the same front end design (not size) of the 620/621. It's a sweet looking rig BUT I disagree on it's potential BIG WATER characteristics, although I have no evidence either way.......purely speculative here. It has the hull of a bass boat (save the front end) which typically has a harder ride on waves. It is a bit deeper inside and that should help. The biggest concern for me however would be the consoles. Bass boat consoles and big rolling water do not mix. A full windshield is almost a must-have on big (Green Bay / Lake of the Woods/ Erie etc) water. The 620 / 621 line of boats is still in my estimation king of the hill for the big stuff. I'd own this Z522d rig if I fished the larger reservoirs of Arkansas, and Missouri, where there is still some skinny water I need to get up into....but needed a bit better ride for the days where the waves were a bit larger than normal. Posts: 51 | The dealer on the bass boat site said the hull was based off the 621. It looks more like a 620/621 than a 520/521 hull when you see the in water pics.

Posts: 194 Location: Lake Elmo, MN | Yeah....again hard to tell. As a former owner of both a 518 and a 520, I'll tell you they are nothing like a 620 (my current rig). I'd never, ever go back even though they were terrific boats in their own right. Again....hard to tell here, but I am always leery when someone tells me something is "just like" something that sets the bar for excellence. If it's "just like" it, then why do we need it ?? Ranger has tried to produce "compromise boats" in recent years. Their Reatta series is a sales success I guess, but for a true fisherman it's not anything like a 620/621. I have friends who own it and the wives love it. The guys complain about it's overall fishability tho. The Angler is the same with somewhat less commercial success. We shall see, but for me, there will never be another big water inland lake boat besides the 620/621 series. It sets the bar. If you want a reservoir boat down south, that handles skinny water and sacrifices big water handling, then the 521series may be the ticket. If you want a true big water boat....620/621. Again tho....one man's opinion. Edited by PSAGuy 7/18/2015 10:56 AM

Posts: 51 | I agree. Probably needs a demo, but it definitely looks like a big water boat. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b575/Anglers_Port_Marine/1_2015... Vic's Sports Center has a video on their Facebook page. Edited by hobeybaker 7/18/2015 11:07 AM
