OK here's my dilemma. Had my first musky mounted as a fiberglass replica. The ol' timer that did it was a good friend of my family especially my uncles on my dads side and my dad as well. So naturally when I said I wanted to get it done I was told to take my business there which I did, which is great rite? Well I knew it was to good to b true he told me he'd only done 1 musky before but many pike so I'm thinkin no problem hell get it done n the pike I saw on the walls of his shop was done very well! Anyway when I got the fish back he only charged me 400$ so I paid him and he took me back to c my pride and joy, my trophy, my bragging peice, but when I saw it I wAs not happy with it. But didn't have the heart to tell the old man cuz he seemed so #*^@ proud of it n thought it really looked good! And bein a friend of my dads I didn't wanna hurt his feelings or pee him off! So I played it up acted OK with it and walked out w my fish. Still happy just because I had my first musky mounted but was conflicted cause it wasn't near the kind of mount that I've seen on this site and many others! So the question is where would I b able to send my fish and get it redone to look a lot more like the real thing? Somewhere that won't break the bank or would it be just as much to fix it as it would to just get another mount of a dif fish? This one was my first and we all have a special place for our first musky! I'm in Southeast PA about an hour from Philly so fairley close would b nice on count of if I ship it there's a good chance I'm gettin it back in peices!!! But after seein the work some of these guys do with replicas, something's gotta b done! Thanks in advance!

i would think any of your local taxidermists could repaint it. just look at the samples of fish they do and pick the one you like. its just going to cost you time and money. bring some pictures of the colors you like your mount to look like with you to show them.

I thought any taxidermist would b able to make it look like the fish I caught! I did show him pics of my fish it just doesn't look nothing like it! Just wonderin if there's a place fairly close that anyone knows that specializes in Musky and could make it look like an LAX or some of those guys without havin to ship it that far away, maybe even drive a few hours to have it done rite! N my moms side only does big game not fish bud!

I wish you luck. Hopefully you find someone local that does good work. I have a smallmouth bass I caught and had mounted when I was young, when you did that sort of thing., it's skinny bellied and dark forest green.

ship it to Lax or Fitante in wisconsin and you WILL be happy when you get it back. they will be able to tell you the proper/safe packaging needed to insure a safe shipment.

When it comes to taxidermy/replicas....never go cheap. Learned the hard way on waterfowl, very similar to your situation.
