Is there a easy quick fix to this problem without taking the reel apart?
Simple answer... no. It's a design problem that AG should have fixed by now. Mat Hegy
(Mat's Reel Repair
) explained it to me this way for all of the Revo Toro models - Revo Toro's, RT Winch's, and RT NaCl's. To help prolong the life of the thumb bars, press the bar down on the right side
(crank side for a right handed reel
). The linkage is on that side, and it is a straight press down. The left side of the bar just has a track for it to slide up and down. If you press in the middle or the left side, you are just applying torque to the thumb bar and bending the left side of the bar down. You can look at the back of a reel with this problem and see the thumb bar is crooked
(bends down away from the crank side
). Pressing the bar on the linkage side slows the progression of this problem.
